Spring has arrived in Ukraine – temperatures is reasonably to high of 17C

Biden has gives Ukraine permission to carry out limited strikes within Russia using US weapons.
While US lifts weapons ban on Ukraine's Azov brigade is a good sign. A lifted its long-standing ban on weapons supplies and training to Ukraine's Azov brigade, whose origins, mired of controversy over alleged links to far-right groups is over.

Moscow condemned decision, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov saying US was "even prepared to flirt with neo-Nazis" to suppress Russia. Vladimir Putin has repeatedly made false claims about this "neo-Nazi regime" in Kyiv to try to justify his annexation of Ukraine's southern Crimea peninsula. So Putin is still a mad man bend on taking more land and to bend in attacking ans killing more using his weapons & soldiers.

Newest American Aid Package Includes 200 M113s For Ukraine

US Dept of Defense announced on June 7th that it will send another military aid package to Ukraine valued at $225 million. This package includes 200 M113 Armored Personnel Carriers, which are in addition to the 100 included in the last aid package, bringing the total to more than 600. In a conflict where modern, advanced armored vehicles such as Bradleys, Abrams, and Leopards have received significant acclaim, it is surprising that Ukraine would need M113s, an older vehicle from the Cold War era. However, given the current battle trends in Ukraine, the M113 aligns well with Ukraine’s military needs.
Reply

The M113 is a tracked armored personnel carrier developed by US in late 1950s. Widely used in Vietnam War, renowned for versatility, durability, and mobility. Vehicle prioritized mobility over survivability by using lighter aluminum armor, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 42 mph across various terrains & float. Due to a need for thicker armor, M113 was eventually phased out of direct-combat roles in favor of Bradley Vehicle, the US continued to use M113 for combat-support roles. In 1990s American M113s underwent upgrades, receiving enhanced powertrains & improved driver controls. Despite upgrades, the US stopped purchasing M113s, out in 2007.

Ukraine's request for additional M113s reflects changes war's dynamics, initial phases of war involved mechanized battles with armored vehicles engaging other armored vehicles, Ukraine is now conducting large number of dismounted  ops, as they defend towns in Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk. Ukrainian forces have established networks of trenches, obstacle belts, & fortified positions to repel Russian assaults on key towns. The M113 supports these dismounted ops by shuttling soldiers to & from front lines providing resupply. While, Russian forces continue to rely heavily on artillery to destroy Ukrainian defensive positions & equipment. M113's mobility makes it a difficult target for indirect fire, it thin armor is still adequate to protect vehicle occupants from artillery shrapnel.

Importantly, M113 can be easily modified for the changing battlefield as both sides adopt new technologies & tactics to break through their adversaries’ lines. M113 configured for a number of different purposes, being a troop transport, as command posts, ambulances & logistical supply. It including TOW missiles, high-caliber machine guns. An image on media showed a Ukrainian M113 with a ZU-23-2 23-mm anti-aircraft auto cannon mounted on top, the design M113 allows for rapid integration of new technology, including carry electronic warfare counter-drone equipment.
Reply

M113 was Cold War specifically to counter Soviet equipment now fielding for battle. The M113 is old enough with technology is analog. As Russia deploys newer advanced electronic warfare systems, the analog systems of the M113 remain unaffected.

This M113 is appropriate vehicle given composition of Russian equipment. Russia fielding a number of older vehicles weapon platforms using them in conjunction with advanced technologies, like especially electronic warfare systems.

From prison to trenches: Inside Ukraine’s attempt to turn inmates into soldiers

Battalion commander Dmytro Kukharchuk speaks quietly but firmly. Holding his tattooed hands behind his back, he tells the men – all convicts – about his experience fighting for Ukraine in Bakhmut and Avdiivka.

A 34, Ukrainian, trying to recruit physically strong, healthy & motivated prisoners into his unit, 3rd Separate Assault Brigade. After more than 2 years, Ukraine is struggling to replenish its depleted military ranks, govt introduced a new law last mth permitting recruitment of convicts. It allows individuals who meet certain conditions to be granted conditional early release if they sign a contract to serve in the military. Kukharchuk doesn’t promise prisoners much, “won’t be easy. But when you come, you come to a family,” he tells men, explaining brigade will not have any special “penal” units. Instead, he says, recruited prisoners will be integrated into existing battalions. Some of the men listen attentively, others smirk.

But even those who smirk start paying attention when Kukharchuk’s colleague starts speaking. The man, who asked CNN to identify him only by his call sign “Dato” because of privacy concerns, is one of them.

Putin said Russia will only end its war in Ukraine if only Kyiv surrenders entirety four regions claimed by Moscow and abandons bid to join NATO – terms Kyiv immediately dismissed as a “complete sham” “offensive to common sense.”

Putin said, Ukraine must demilitarize & Western countries must lift their sanctions on Russia, which damaged but not crippled its economy. These are conditions to more maximalist than those Putin has hinted at b4, represent Russia’s failure to achieve its original war aims to capture Kyiv in days, the rest of Ukraine in weeks. Nearly 28 months later, Russia occupies around a fifth of Ukrainian territory, including Crimean peninsula it annexed a decade ago.

June 12, 2024. -- US Spy Plane Gets Front Row Seat as Ukrainian Missile Strikes in Crimea. A US Air Force ground crew is in real-time recorded.

A Kyiv Post review of open-source flight tracking data found that the Northrop Grumman RQ-4B Global Hawk, arrived on station to airspace southwest of Russia’s main military base in the Crimean city of Sevastopol at least three hours before Ukrainian forces fired missiles at Russian military targets, and the aircraft loitered in the area for about seven hours before flying back to its base in Sigonella, Italy. A high-tech intelligence collection platform crammed with radars, direction-finding electronics and multi-spectral sensors, the Global Hawk is the US’s premier reconnaissance drone.

American flight planners had sent the aircraft over the Black Sea repeatedly, but during past Ukrainian strikes US flight controllers had kept the $200 million-plus aircraft out of Black Sea air space and far from Crimea during actual missile strikes by Kyiv.

CONTINUE FROM ABOVE..Reported By Ukrainian, agreed Russian military installations had been hit, some saying it airfields & aircraft, others alleging Russian air defense systems – long a primary target for Ukrainian strike planners – were hit.

Social media posts linked to Sevastopol bedroom community Osypenko, 3 k/m south of major military airfield, reported smoke smelling heavily of burning petroleum products. Some account
said one Kyiv missile had damaged elements of a Russian S-400 system – Kremlin’s premier air defense weapon – based near Sevastopol airfield. Other reports suggested weapons carrying out the strikes were US-manufactured ATACMS missiles, some with conventional warheads & at least one with a cluster munition warhead. Kyiv Post researchers were unable to confirm the claims conclusively.

A second Ukrainian strike packet appeared to have aimed at logistics or possibly transportation infrastructure in northern Crimea, with explosions reported in the Perekop narrows near the town Armyansk and the village Krasnoperekopsk. Popular Russian milblogger Vladimir Rogov told his 110,000-plus followers the “massive missile strike” hit four locations including an air-defense installation near the port Chornomorske.

Russian-occupation Sevastopol governor said “all air targets” were destroyed in the air, there was no damage to people or property. Local emergency response info platforms reported nothing. ThinkingAs Ukrainian strikes went-in 02:45 local time, Wed (11:45 pm Tues) FORTE12 was 190-200 k/m from Sevastopol in international air space. The Sigonella-based Global Hawk had been in air about 7-hrs, a sortie lasting some 16 hrs, open-source air traffic records showed.

Intelligence collection by Global Hawk patrols air space over Black Sea for years, since Putin order invasion Feb  2024 & annexation of Crimea in 2014, flights typically take place twice a week & flight tracking data never route aircraft  150 k/m from Russian-controlled territory. U.S. men had stated flights are not provocative & fully outside Russia fedaration and within international law.

Russian analysts has accused Pentagon of using flights to collect targeting info, is then passed on to Kyiv, as U.S. turn off aircraft’s transponders off to allow spy planes to monitor “Russian” territory more clandestinely. The FORTE12 sortie on June 11-12 flew a figure of a 8 patrol pattern south of Crimea for 7 hrs, also approached the Russian city of Sochi, Kyiv Post review of fligh.

During night June 10-11, during Kyiv fired off an even more punishing series of strikes against Crimean targets, open-source flight trackers showed no US military or allied aircraft in the air. Ukrainian missiles fired 24 hrs later struck much the same targets, or near them, news reports and official statements said.

Ukrainian-fired made-in-USA ATACMS missiles during the Monday-Tuesday strikes to hit a military installation near the city Yevpatoriya, the Saky military air base, the Chornomorske port and the Perekop Isthmus town Dzhankoi, the US-supported news agency Radio Liberty reported. The primary target objective was damage or destruction of S-300 and S-400 air defense vehicles operated by Russia’s 31st Air Force Division, that report said.

(Independent Russian news agency) ASTRA said at least-2, S-300 missile launchers, and 4 radar search stations were demolished in attacks. Officials, led stated those strikes caused no damage and all missiles were shot down.

Kyiv Post review those materials, along w/checks via its own sources available open-source show evidence likewise found Ukrainian strikes were effective and damaged Russian air defense capacity at those locations.

The pro-Ukraine Crimean military info platform Krymsky Veter on Wed, citing partisan-collected imagery, reported Russian military authorities had ordered Russia’s 12th Air Defense Regiment, a subordinate formation to the 31st Division, out of Sevastopol to sites in Yevpatoriya and Chornomorske, where Ukrainian missiles reportedly had struck hours earlier.

Photographs of the high-value Russian systems showed four missile launchers and two targeting radar vehicles heading north.

The Investigative Committee of Russian Federation confirmed the Ukrainian Air Force shot down a rare Russian A-50 early warning & control aircraft over Azov Sea back in Feb, killing ten crew members. Ukraine's military intelligence agency, together with Air Force, shot down the aircraft on February 23, 2024, killing 10 crew members. The agency announced that the downing was  "another serious blow" to Russia's military capabilities.  The Russian Ministry of Defense didn't comment on the info at the time. Russian Investigative Committee issued an arrest in absentia on June 17 for the commander of the Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile brigade that destroyed the A-50.
