"New Data in 2022: Worldwide IQ Test
IQ levels change as the population changes. Younger people take IQ tests, while the older population may expand due to extended lifespans. The Worldwide IQ Test has measured the intelligence of people in over 100 countries since 2019. Countries are ranked in accordance with the highest average IQ in the world based on their official IQ test results.

According to the current figures, the most intelligent countries in the world are Taiwan, Japan, Serbia, and Hungary. The residents of Taiwan have an astonishing average IQ score of 116.07 among the test-takers, with the citizens of Japan (112.69), Hungary (111.42), and South Korea (111.36) close behind"

This is a very weird article. They don't really publish their methodology and how they came to this conclusion, so there's nothing much to comment technically.

However their qualitative justification that Japanese are the smartest is downright laughable. They cite Japan's lead in cars, motorcycles and electronics as evidence of them being the most intelligent. Er... many countries have different niche industries where they do better, in what way does selling more motorcycles equate to a smarter population? Even if we want to do this haphazard comparison, shouldn't we be picking really "difficult" industries like AI, Cloud, Biotech, Renewables, Quantum Computing, RBA, Space etc.?

The funniest part is the Japanese are already losing market share in the auto industry and their companies are way behind their peers in the new EV space. As for electronics, their consumer electronics market share has shrunk significantly as big players in US, China, Korea continue to push them out while industrial electronics have retreated to specific niche areas instead of being a full spectrum player they were in the 1990s.

If the qualitative justification is so lazy and idiotic, I doubt the rigorousity of the quantitative analysis will be any better.

However none of the Taiwanese universities is in the top 100 universities ranking in 2022, but NUS is ranked 11th, ahead of Yale, Columbia and Tokyo U. NTU is also ranked 19th.

That's probably one reason why Ex President Tony Tan was  conferred PhD from Adelaide University, S Australia, not NUS

If the survey were to include some Sgtalk members, Singapore could be ranked No. 2  ,  just a notch below Taiwan.

The consultant picked the wrong people.

Spore still has a lot to learn from the west, NUS and NTU are not in the top 10 yet. Unlike the U.S. and the UK, the education in Australia is waste of money, most of the universities are not as good as Spore and school fees are sky high trying to make more money from Asian students using the good reputation of the past.
