According to Nikhil Dhurandhar, a scientist who is doing a fellowship at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Adenovirus 36 (AD-36) is a virus that causes the body to produce higher-than-average fat cells. Voss tested positive for the antibodies present in AD-36. Though the virus does eventually leave the body, “the damage is permanent,” Dhurandhar told WTMJ-TV.
