The problem is see is not crash or contagion.
For the short term oriented markets once the China govt steps in all these fears will vanish overnight
Main problem is all the structural issues in China that drags it's economy.
The demographics ageing, real estate over investment, etc looks just like Japan in 1989. ..and led to long period of stagnation. Japan started stagnating as a high income nation. China is about same income as Malaysia.
Japan was ahead of US in many areas ...then went into stagnation.

Evergrande has bonds and debt owed to 130 banks in China.
This will cause losses ...Ping Ann may be holding alot of property related bonds.

Here we see HDB flats cross $1m and everything real estate just pop up in a straight line up. Yet there is no cooling measures. Is it that our govt is just waiting for the inevitable to happen ie the contagion effects? Better stay cash until dust settles down.

Long long ago my guru told me that the Year of Tiger is a ferocious animal, showed me charts in those years how the economy esp property kaput. Next year is the tiger year. will there be any repeats?

Ping An has fallen more than 50%...7% today.
Reminds me of the US financial crisis spread from first Bear Stearns ...the later AIA....
The China side there is one segment of bond called the high interest developer junk bonds...which is quite large and resembles sub prime.
This looks like early innings if China govt is not going to act as the saga unfold.

Risk of China govt losing control of situation is low.
But they may allow more pain in the market before taking action to support.
