My son is in sec 1 in a boys school in SG and some of his classmates are from PRC but maybe they are SG new citizens now. They are rich, no doubt, just bumped into some of them overseas last week.

Plenty of them in Singapore. And you cannot tell apart.
Unlike the Malaysian Chinese, sometimes still can differentiate.
Because the Malaysian goes back home regularly.

If I am.not wrong, many youngsters in Singapore are from China. Some born here, some came over at young age.
And they lived here most of the time, so talk and act similarly as our children.
I know few become SAF Officers. Married Singaporean wife.

Out of the 75% Chinese Singaporean, maybe 50% from China. Born here or migrated.

Those who came here with their mothers the peidu mamas in the earlier years were the more bumpkin types. The children tend to be very shy and only spoke mandarin in the first couple of years here in sg. They tend to be typically older 2 to 3 years than their sg cohort. Meaning an sg boy will be 13 years in Sec 1 while the PRCs are typically 15yrs. But they can integrate very well and after going through a few years eg secondary school system in sg, you can't tell them apart from sg children. Unless they choose to lapse into their mainland vernacular language Big Grin

One of my buddies moved to Singapore from Hangzhou when he was 11 and he speaks exactly like a local (including local profanities) except for his Chinese.
