Rather he was an ex-DPM and involved in Cabinet brainstorming. He was part of the ministerial tean which worked out the Annual Budget and manage Singapore's monies. How could he have discharged his duties without knowing how much revenue we collect and how much we spend and save, and year by year the reserves grew.

in other countries, strong oppositions have enough votes in parliament to enact new law to forbid current MP/Minister to become President.
our oppositions are weak and have no vote to push for new law in parliament.

need to wait for bad things to happen before more oppositions can get into parliament.

you can also see that for so many years, WP did not voice this problem about existing PAP MP becoming President in parliament.

if WP MPs cannot check on PAP, we need more new opposition MPs to check on PAP.

if no opposition MP can check on PAP, voters deserve the national reserves to be corrupted by a corrupt govt.
