Trump’s Gaza plan won’t happen, but it could certainly shake up the region. Moving Gazans to Arab countries won't work, but neither will ending the war with Hamas the strongest force in Gaza. New ideas are needed, and this might spark more viable solutions.

WASHINGTON — As is often the case with Donald Trump, there were plenty of headline-worthy statements that came out his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The US president said the Saudis were not demanding a Palestinian state; that the current Israeli government could complete the hostage release deal; that Iran is “very strong right now”; US would get more violent if Hamas didn’t release all the hostages.

Yet statement leading news shows in the US and news sites around the world was about the future of Gaza: “The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too. We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous bombs and other weapons on the site.” This wasn’t Trump speaking off the cuff. He was reading from prepared remarks during a joint press conference with Netanyahu, the first foreign leader to visit the White House since the Republican returned to office in January. Though he often stakes out unexpected positions as a tactic to help get what he wants on other matters, he seemed to be sincere about this one.

Shortly before that, Trump said in the Oval Office that he wants Palestinians to leave Gaza, and that ideally they would not return to the war-torn region. Netanyahu seemed not to know how to react to the outlandish plan. “I think it’s worth paying attention to this,” he said noncommittally. “We’re talking about it. He’s exploring it with his people, with his staff. I think it’s something that could change history, and it’s worthwhile really pursuing this avenue.”

This thread, started in Feb 2024, proved that Hamas proposed a ceasefire very early on. Contrary to what many people believed, it wasn't Hamas that did not want a ceasefire.

It was in fact Nutty & gang that intentionally scuttled so many chances of ceasefire as they themselves admitted. They wanted to destroy as much as Gaza so that Palestinians have nothing to go back to when the bombing stops. Pals can then be made to "voluntarily" leave their land & go somewhere else so that Zionist colonisers can take over.

Events in the last few days proved this to be true.

This is another level of wickedness. You have to be very screwed up to be able to mastermind such a plot, and then actually pull it off by mass murdering tens of thousands.

Hamas handed over three Israeli hostages, whose gaunt appearance has sent shockwaves in Tel Aviv. Ohad Ben Ami and Eli Sharabi, both taken hostage from Kibbutz Be'eri during the cross-border Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023, and Or Levy, abducted that day from the Nova music festival, were led onto a Hamas podium by gunmen. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he will not ignore the sight of three weak, emaciated Israeli hostages being led on to a stage in Gaza and forced into an apparent staged interview by Hamas.

Trump: US will own Gaza, Mideast states can help rebuild; US may let some Gazans in US president reiterates plan to relocate all of Strip's population, says his country may admit refugees on case-by-case basis; vows to ensure Palestinians are 'not murdered'. US President Donald Trump reiterated on Sunday that he is committed to buying and owning the Gaza Strip, but could allow sections of the war-ravaged land to be rebuilt by other states in the Middle East.

“I’m committed to buying and owning Gaza. As far as us rebuilding it, we may give it to other states in the Middle East to build sections of it, other people may do it, through our auspices. But we’re committed to owning it, taking it, and making sure that Hamas doesn’t move back.” He made his remarks to reporters aboard Air Force One on his way to New Orleans to attend the National Football League Super Bowl championship. He was referring to his plan to permanently relocate all of Gaza’s population and rebuild the Strip to create “the Riviera of the Middle East.”
Izzat al-Rishq, a member of the Hamas political bureau, condemned Trump’s remarks in a statement issued by the terror group. Hamas started the war, which has devastated Gaza, with its brutal onslaught of October 7, 2023, in which 1,200 were killed in Israel and 251 were taken as hostages to the Strip.

“Gaza is not a property to be sold and bought. It is an integral part of our occupied Palestinian land,” and Palestinians will foil displacement plans, Rishq added. He last week floated the idea of the United States taking over Gaza and engaging in a massive rebuilding effort. His statement was vague on the future of Palestinians and it was unclear under what authority the United States would take claim of Gaza. Trump’s announcement drew immediate rebukes from several nations.

Earlier on Sunday, Israeli President Isaac Herzog said Trump was set to meet with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi and possibly Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, although he gave no dates for the talks.
The comments, delivered in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, came in response to a question about Trump’s proposal to take over and redevelop Gaza.

Herzog did not say when or where the meetings would take place, nor did he discuss their potential content. He also noted that Trump is due to meet with Jordan’s King Abdullah in the coming days, which Jordan’s state news agency has already reported.“ President Trump is due to meet with major, major Arab leaders, first and foremost the king of Jordan and the president of Egypt and I think also the crown prince of Saudi Arabia as well,” Herzog said.“These are partners that must be listened to, they must be discussed with. We have to honor their feelings as well and see how we build a plan that is sustainable for the future,” Herzog said.

Saudi Arabia has flatly rejected Trump’s Gaza plan, as have many world leaders. Jordan’s King Abdullah plans to tell Trump during their planned February 11 meeting in Washington that the proposal is a recipe for radicalism that will spread chaos through the Middle East and jeopardize the kingdom’s peace with Israel, Reuters reported last week. The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment. It was not immediately possible to contact officials in Cairo and Riyadh.

Trump warns 'all hell' will break loose if Gaza hostages not returned

GAZA CITY: US President Donald Trump warned on Monday (Feb 10) that "all hell" would break loose if every Israeli hostage is not released from Gaza within days, after Hamas threatened to postpone further exchanges under a fragile ceasefire deal it said Israel was violating. The truce that went into effect on Jan 19 largely halted more than 15 months of fighting in the Gaza Strip and saw five groups of Israeli hostages freed in exchange for hundreds of Palestinians in Israeli custody.

But tensions have been running high since a shock proposal by emperor Trump to take over Gaza Strip & remove its more than two million inhabitants. Emperor Trump said Monday he would call for end of ceasefire if every Israeli hostage was not released by noon on Saturday.
"As far as I'm concerned, if all of hostages aren't returned by Saturday 12 o'clock - I think it's an appropriate time - I would say cancel it and all bets are off and let hell break out," Trump told reporters at the White House.

The ceasefire agreement says staggered releases should take place over the ongoing 42-day first phase of the deal. A spokesman for Hamas's armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, said in a statement earlier Monday that the next hostage release, "which was scheduled for next Saturday, Feb 15, 2025, will be postponed until further notice". Hamas's armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, said. The spokesman, Abu Ubaida, said the resumption of hostage-prisoner exchanges was "pending (Israeli) occupation's compliance  retroactive fulfilment of past weeks' obligations".
They accuses Israel of failing to carry out its commitments under truce in time of violating the ceasefire, including on humanitarian aid deliveries after Sunday deaths of 3-Gazans.

In a later statement, Hamas said to Israel, it had "intentionally" made this announcement five (5) days be4 next coming exchange to allow mediators ample time to pressure Israel "towards fulfilling its obligations. Emperor Trump says door is remains open for prisoner exchange batch to proceed as planned, once occupation complies". As Israel said its military was readying for "any possible scenario". Why the Gaza ceasefire is under growing strain. hours ago Paul Adams. BBC diplomatic correspondent

Hamas fighters escort Israeli hostage Eli Sharabi to a stage bd4 handing him over to a Red Cross team in Deir el-Balah, central Gaza, 8 February.
Hamas freed more hostages, including Eli Sharabi, on Saturday

Why has Hamas announced a delay just days before it is due to release the next group of hostages????. In one of its official statements, released on Telegram, the group called its announcement a "warning" to Israel and said it was giving mediators "ample time to pressure the occupation [Israel] into fulfilling its obligations". It said "door remains open" for next scheduled releases to go ahead on Saturday. The group appears to be giving time for the impasse to be resolved.

But what exactly is the impasse?. Hamas lists a series of complaints, from delaying return of displaced people, continuing to open fire on them and failing to allow the entry of certain types of humanitarian aid. Other Palestinian officials not connected with Hamas cited Israel's reluctance to allow caravans into Gaza to house vast numbers of Palestinians whose homes been destroyed. At
a time when Israeli govt is openly discussing ways to encourage civilians to leave Gaza, the failure to give permits for badly needed temporary accommodation is bound to stoke Palestinian fears of expulsion.

Fears exacerbated, almost every day, by emperor Donald Trump. What nest as it isbegan as an apparently off-the-cuff suggestion that most Palestinians should leave while the Gaza Strip is rebuilt has morphed into the president's demand that all should leave and that the US should take over and run Gaza.
As he (Trump) continues to double down on his incendiary suggestion, Hamas may be wondering whether it's worth engaging in phase two of the ceasefire talks. What exactly are the talks for???.

If he (Trump) is not serious, the Palestinians know that it will fall to Israel to make sure that Gaza is devoid of civilians. Depriving them of shelter won't be enough. It will almost certainly require force.

Now he emperor (Trump) has said that if all the hostages held in Gaza are not returned by Saturday he will propose cancelling the ceasefire and "all hell" will break out.... crying

Jordan’s King Abdullah II has become the first Arab leader to meet the emperor, Donald Trump in the White House since U.S.A president’s second term began on January 20.. Tuesday’s sit-down with Trump, however, put Abdullah in a delicate situation, while Jordan & US have historically had strong ties, Trump has repeatedly pressured Abdullah & his govt to accept displaced Palestinians from war-torn Gaza, where Israel has conducted assault since October 2023.

The US, meanwhile, has said it would “take over” and “own” a Gaza emptied of its residents, a proposal critics believe would amount to ethnic cleansing.

“It’s not a complex thing to do,” Trump said again on Tuesday. “With the United States being in control of that piece of land — that fairly large piece of land — you’re going to have stability in the Middle East for the first time.” Both Jordan and its ally Egypt have refused to accept forcibly displaced Palestinians. Abdullah’s meeting came recently as ceasefire hold in Gaza. Israel has threatened — back of the remarks from Trump himself — to restart bombing on Saturday if Palestinian Hamas does not release all captives by  this Saturday. Tongue Thinking

The fragile ceasefire between Israel / Hamas appears:back on track after Hamas said it'll release hostages this weekend as planned.
Both had been locked in a dispute over Gaza ceasefire, spat threatening to derail that brought an end to over a year of fighting & with next steps still tobe resolved, officials declined immediately confirm Israel will abide by terms of the ceasefire
if Hamas don't releases 3 hostages as planned, but are optimistic a deal will be reached to avert collapse of the ceasefire agreement.
