The Bible says, "Do not answer a fool according to his folly." We agree with Proverb 26:4. We also agree with verse 5, which says, "Answer a fool as his folly deserves, that he not be wise in his own eyes." Either the author of the book of Proverbs was mad, or the lesson of the passage is that we have to be careful in how and when we choose to confront false ideas. Don't just argue with people who won't listen to reason, or we'll be just as foolish as they. But if we're able to show people the error of their thinking in a way that they can understand, then maybe they'll seek God's wisdom rather than relying on their own.
