The plan was for Russian to punch through Ukrainian lines by launching a large-scale, surprise mechanized assault through Andriivka toward Oleksiivka. Russian commanders believed a sudden, over whelming show of force would catch Ukrainian defenders off guard & trigger a mass withdrawal. This stark departure from their recent pattern of small infantry group assaults, yielded limited gains due to precise & well-coordinated Ukrainian drone op. Additionally, by punching through quickly, Russians hoped they would be able to overrun & eliminate Ukrainian drone operators stationed in & around Oleksiivka to ensure they not halt Russian momentum again. However!. Ukrainian defenders had anticipated such a move. Surveillance drones, both day & night, constantly monitored Russian positions movement. Despite decline in Russian mechanized assaults due past losses, Ukrainian forces continued to extensively mine potential Russian attack routes & established strong new defenses in area while also fortifying existing positions. A Russian column composed of approximately 12 armored vehicles, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, & a Kamaz truck, advanced through Andriivka & tried to bypass forward Ukrainian positions. However, due to the extensive drone reconnaissance, they were already spotted on approaches, allowing Ukrainians to prepare to open fire. Once the column exited the village, they drove right into a Ukrainian minefield, immobilizing the lead tank & halting the convoy.
