As per Quran Bani Israel ( children of Isreal) originated from Jacob/ Yaqoob .
Israel is another name for Yaqoob.
Israel means servant of God or bounded by God’s covenant.
Israelites originated from Jacob.
However Torah was given to Moses.So Jacob or his children weren’t Jew.
