So, let's get back to the covenant. 

The covenant is broken because they disobeyed God. Jesus wasn't the only one they rejected. They have killed other prophets sent by God.

And then, Jesus said God will take away the kingdom from them and give it to another nation that will produce the fruits, and the fruit is a metaphor for obedience to God.

They kill because they do not believe they are prophets of God. . this stems from ignorance. This is different from Moslems, who acknowledge that Muhammad is their prophet but still continue to murder his family. 

If you're discussing the covenant, then Jesus should be excluded from the conversation, as he came thousands of years after the covenant was established.
