Meanwhile, a Kremlin-backed official in the Zaporizhzhia region told Russian state media that there is “fierce fighting” on Ukraine’s southern front, amid questions about whether a Ukrainian offensive is underway there.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian forces continue shelling flooded areas in Kherson, including evacuation points, as thousands flee following the collapse of a major dam this week.
