Ukraine's President Zelensky said at least 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died in war with Russia, in a rare admission of his country's losses. CNN cannot independently verify figure, but US officials estimate toll could be closer to 70,000. Zelensky said Trump will be “against Americans” if he chooses to support Russia over Ukraine. Speaking to CNN, "I don't think he understands (Russian President Vladimir) he will never stop."

Russia sustained 5,760 casualties in past week, a statistics published by Ukraine's military on Sunday, as Moscow's advances westward along front lines come at a steep cost to its forces. Russian forces in the war-torn country lost 1,160 troops in past 24 hrs, Ukraine's military said on Sunday update. Moscow lost a total of 430,740 fighters since it launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022, Kyiv said.

If Ukraine's tally includes casualties, as well as Russian fighters who are missing or died in non-combat circumstances, it is a "perfectly plausible" tally, Nick Reynolds, a research fellow for land warfare at@London-based Royal United Services Institute think tank, told Newsweek in February.

Earlier March, UK said Russia's monthly casualty count throughout Feb-2024 reached it highest point since Moscow's forces crossed into Ukraine for its full-scale invasion in February 2022, it has likely sustained more than 335,000 casualties, London said, "almost certainly reflects it commitment to mass attritional warfare," U.K. Defense Ministry said in an intelligence update.
