If God is going to punish sins, He would be very busy punishing everyone in heaven after raising each of us from the dead. You stole your sister's money?  Piak! This slap is for you.  You backstabbed your colleague, and lied about him?  Piak!  You mocked Christians?  Piak Piak!

And if he is going to forgive sins, He would be just as busy going through the Book, and say "You prayed for forgiveness?  Got do penance bo?  Didn't do?" Piak!  Sin not forgiven!

You stole the church's money?  Got return the money bo?  Yes, you did? And did your penance?  OK.  Angel Ali did record this down.  OK, you are forgiven, dude!

Eew...that's not huat the Bible says man.

So what did it say?  It says, if your name is not found in the Book of Life, you go to.....

Don't do caricatures. Let's stick to what our scriptures say. 

Do you believe Zacchaeus received salvation? You must because it is recorded in the Gospels that Jesus said he received salvation. Did he believe Jesus is God? Surely not. He was talking face-to-face with Jesus. Did he believe Jesus was going to pay for his sins? No, because he promised to pay for his sins himself. 

We see the same often-forgiving God in the Quran.
