Belgium will allocate a air defense initiative and transfer anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine
The Belgian govt will allocate a financial package initiative to Ukraine with its own missiles for air defense systems. RTBF reported on this with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Belgium, package worth EUR 200 million will be used in the framework of German initiative, aims to purchase air defense systems for Ukraine.
German govt recently initiated a search for air defense systems to transfer to Ukraine.
At the same time, country is open to new participants who will help search for suitable systems & will also be able to allocate a financial package for their acquisition.
Militarnyi previously reported Spain will transfer missiles to Ukraine for the Patriot air defense system. Govt newspaper claim that decision was made amid pressure from NATO and the European Union.
Belgium also provide Ukraine with missiles for air defense systems from its stockpile. It is RIM-7 Sea Sparrow missile, it has high probability anti-aircraft missiles, transferred to Ukraine in military aid. Belgium bought 8 RIM-7 missiles from Germany, which were used on German frigates. At the moment, missiles will be transferred from their own warehouses, as they are used by Belgian frigates Leopold 1 and Louise-Marie
