You got a good point here. The risk of collision is indeed very high in this type of naval operation. I guess the cargo ships transiting the Red Sea will be in groups of 10 or 20 cargo ships. Then the naval ships will form a convoy around the groups to provide fire power umbrella or iron dome as they called in Israel. So our navy ships will be sailing in very close quarters with ships of other navies to form the convoy and collision risk is very high.     Big Grin

This is one of the worst political decision ever made by the PAP gov in the final year of LHL as PM.

This so-called "multinational" operation in the Red Sea is actually a US reaction to protect Israel interest after Yeman's Houthi rebel started attacking Israel-bound ships in the area in support of Palestinians in Gaza

Clearly SG gov decision is more for serving geopolitical self interest than taking into SG citizens view into consideration.

The country most affected by the Red Sea embargo is India

If India don't give a sheet, why should we?

GST just oncreased and looks like it will be used here for running a Red Sea protection operation
If this shit drags on for 8 years like the Gulf war, how much more GST hike is needed?     Big Grin

I think need not limited to the Red Sea.
The Houthis are pro-Palestinians and once the US-led military strikes start, other pro-Palestinians groups in SE Asia may join in the fray to support the Houthis.
And Straits of Malacca is much narrower than the Red Sea, it will be severely tarnish SAF image if one or more RSN vessels are badly hit.

Iran drones are the 2nd tier in Russia arsenal
this is how it goes.
Russia uses Iranian drones ahQua uses Western air defences.
agQua boosted they took some off or even imagine they took Russian missiles
salah. Russia uses the drones to reveal ahQua positions.

"Incidents of armed robbery on ships in Asia increased significantly in 2023 and specifically in the region around the Singapore Strait and the Strait of Malacca. ReCAAP (Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery), however in its annual review of 2023 pointed to a few encouraging recent developments while saying more also needs to be done including efforts to eradicate the organized criminal groups operating in the area around Singapore.

The data highlights a nearly 20 percent increase in armed robberies during 2023, specifically with more incidents in which the perpetrators were carrying knives and seven cases where crewmembers were tied up. There was a total of 99 incidents and one attempted in 20233 versus 84 in 2022. The area around Singapore and the Straits of Malacca accounted for two-thirds or a total of 63 reports in 2023, versus 55 incidents in 2022. "
