Israel wants to ensure that Hamas never murders, rapes, kidnaps and tortures any more of their citizens. They are going all out to make that a reality. It is a zero sum game for Israel and collateral damage is not a concern for them. I understand where they are coming from even though I don't approve of their all out approach.

The IDF began as Zionist terrorist Irgun and Stern gangs. Just because they wear uniforms & give themselves ranks does not mean they no longer are terrorists. 

The UN has also labelled IDF as child killers alongside Hamas. But in terms of numbers of children killed, IDF beat Hamas hands down.

The sayings of the Prophet should be taken together with its context. Those words where he said he would expel Jews & Christians were said after a battle instigated by Jews in which they were defeated. They then asked the Prophet to let them stay, and the Prophet was kind enough to allow them despite the Jews' hostilities towards the Muslims. 

The Jews & Christians weren't always accepting of his teachings. Some of them fought against the Muslims, broke treaties, tried to murder Muslim pilgrims enroute to the Haj & so on. Their expulsion from the Hijaz region of Arabia where Mecca & Medina are located were meant to protect the holy pilgrimage sites. 

Looking at the extreme hostilities between some Jews (allied with some Christians supplying weapons) towards Muslims today as seen in Palestine, such expulsion to protect the holy sites against violent bloodshed was justified. 

Having said that, Jews, Christians & Muslims have a long history of peaceful co-existence in the middle east, before the Europeans came to mess things up.
