Why is water price increased by 18% next year? Does Malaysia raise the water price?

Some people over here still kpkb water price in Singapore.
They think we have friendly neighbours. Either they are so stupiak or a undesirable foreigner lots.
We are lucky to be able to find a way out of Dr M crutches, over our water supply.
Either paying higher price in making water from expensive technology and using more energy.
Or paying forever increasing raw water price from neighbour.
Definitely the formal is a better choice, Singapore does not need to depend on others for our water supply.

Our tap water already contains 40% Newater

Non-Potable Use
As it is ultra-clean, NEWater is used mainly for industrial and air-con cooling purposes at wafer fabrication plants, industrial estates and commercial buildings.
The biggest users of NEWater are wafer fabrication plants, which require water quality that is even more stringent than water for drinking.
NEWater is delivered to industrial customers via a dedicated pipe network.
Indirect Potable Use
During dry periods, NEWater is added to our reservoirs to blend with raw water.
The raw water from the reservoir is treated at the waterworks before it is supplied to consumers as tap water.
If you are working in wafer plant, you know the quality of water needed is very high.
And Newater creation processes are more expensive.
Once treated, wastewater can be used for a variety of purposes: irrigation of green spaces or crops, firefighting, road washing or even groundwater recharge.
Some countries or states - such as Australia, California, Cyprus, Spain, Florida, Israel, Jordan, Malta and Singapore - have set a goal of meeting 10 to 60 percent of their water needs through the reuse of treated wastewater.
The ubiquity of wastewater allows us to consider its treatment on all territories, unlike desalination, another solution to alleviate the lack of water, which is limited to coastal areas and is very energy intensive.

You need good filters to remove tiny little viruses, bacteria and dirts in the sewage water and must wash and replace the filters frequently to ensure the quality of filtered water.

This is one of many reasons why semiconductor plants are very expensive to run and not many countries have the infra to support...
Many don't realise much of the Newater customers are from high-tech high-capital industries...
So before getting into the "CHIP war", better check your local water quality and supply lines.

They are big countries.
China
We won't stand a freaking chance in a SAF vs PLA fight. However, it's extremely unlikely for them to attack us. Yeah, they might impound our terrex but they didn't damage them. In fact they even covered them with canvas to protect them from the elements like a mother placing a warm blanket over her newborn on a rainy night
Malaysia
This one, we can be a poisonous shrimp so they will think ten times before swallowing us which once upon a time they could but now.. hmm.
Now we don't really need the SAF as much as before. We have soft power because a not insignificant chunk of their GDP is generated by the minority race who bring back 1 x 3.4 from here. Destroying us is like chopping away a left leg and a right arm.
No it's not about being ball-less. With China it's foolhardy to fight what is like a Sumatran tiger by comparison. Even Mike Tyson wouldn't fight with a real tiger of that genre. Mike is a coward?
With Malaysia, any war will damage all that we had built up. So we will not start a war but if they fire the first salvo, I believe the 61% will do whatever it takes to defend our country. I'm afraid I have no confidence in the 39% who are just troublemakes.

Another reason for Malaysia to be reluctant in supplying water and energy to Singapore.
The competition for Semiconductor firm investment is fierce.
When Singapore declared successful in production of Newater, they know it is another failure in blocking our growth in manufacturing.
Therefore scorned us for drinking toilet water. Only the fools in Singapore bitten thier trap.

Dhimmi was briefly mentioned in edmw. So Malaysia is known as an Islamic country where non Muslims live with protected status huh? And how are they protected? From who and from what?
The difference between Singapore and Malaysia is that Heng Swee Keat thinks he has a short runway when he's in his 60s. LTK who's also in his 60s stepped down to make way for Pritam who's only in his early 40s.
Meanwhile in Malaysia, old fox is 98, Muhyiddin and Anwar are 75~76, and they are all Malaysia has, it seems. There is practically no political succession, or succession planning there. Btw the same phenomeno is seen in the US. There are over 300 million Americans but their choices for a POTUS is between 2 old men. Biden or Trump.
They can grab power but without the elixir of life, how long can they be in power??

It is not about current old Leaders, but what the young Malay voters wanted in Malaysia. Therefore the shrewd Ah M quickly jumped on the bandwagon.

"Non Muslims are not allowed to lead..."
So what if the Muslim is an ethnic Chinese? Can he be the Prime Minister solely based on merit?
If the answer is NO, then Dhimmi is just a convenient excuse to bar non Malays from being in power.

The general issue addressed by this thesis is the processes and dynamics of religious and ethnic identity construction and how identity construction mediates religious conversion amongst Chinese Muslim converts in Malaysian society.
Chinese Muslim converts are often considered something of an enigma in Malaysia. This is mainly because of the imbrications between ethnicity and religion in Malaysia, based on the strong association between Muslim and Malay identity and a history of tension and conflict between the Malays and Chinese.
Chinese Muslim converts interviewed perceive both identities as crucial to their self-concept. The identities, being Chinese and being Muslim, may appears as exclusive in the context of Malaysia; however, they are also considered too important to surrender for the converts.
Accommodation of discrepant identities does not always result in an either/or decision that destroys one of the identities. Rather, identity negotiation can be constructed as a process in which much of these identities remain intact.
Through a process of socialization, Chinese Muslim converts constructed and negotiated the boundaries and definitions of their religious and ethnic identity to include Islam into their daily life.
The case study;
Religious identity for Chinese Muslim converts are constructed through the change of name and habits, which signify their Muslim identity publicly.
However, Islam is strongly associated with the Malay ethnic identity thus the Chinese Muslim explicit behavior associated with Islam is always being understood as a betrayal of their ethnic traditions.
Hence, negotiation and certain adjustments have to be made in order for converts to obtain their new religious identity while remaining Chinese.
Three different attitudes were found among respondents toward the issue of changing their name to an Islamic one after conversion and whether they use the Islamic or Chinese name to identify themselves in their daily life.
It is found that the stronger hostility a convert faces from their family towards their conversion, the more hesitant s/he is to use their Islamic name and the more conscious s/he is on maintaining their Chinese name.
Family hostility serves as the main motivation for Chinese Muslim converts to reconcile the dissonance between their ethnic and religious identity.
Two major practices demonstrate how Chinese Muslim converts negotiate their ethnic and religious boundaries.
Firstly, they participate in Chinese festivities yet not taking part in religious rituals in order not to contravene their new beliefs.
Secondly, in response to their familie?
Concern of losing ties with their kinsmen, some respondents consciously maintained their surname and passed it on to their children.
This research provides an in-depth analysis on how religious converts negotiate between the new religious identity brought by conversion and their other (non-religious) existing identity.
Although the case of Chinese Muslim converts is a unique situation, it raised the question of whether this same process occurs in diverse religious situations or conversion events.
In conceptualizing religious identity change or conversion as an either/or proposition, it is also important for us to look at the subtlety of the individual identity negotiation.
Islam is strongly associated with the Malay ethnic.
The question is can the Chinese Muslim give up their Chinese ethnicity all together. Becoming a Malay Islamic converts?
There is only 1% of Chinese muslim in Malaysia. Therefore it is not a major concern to the Dhimmi ideology.

Malays or any of the races being classified as Malays but actually are Boyanese, Javanese, Dayaks etc do not have a monopoly of Islam. It is the ignorance of most Singaporeans who think Malay = Muslim = Malay and a mosque is called a Malay temple wor. 马来庙

Most of the peepur in the Middle East are Muslims of some variety, some Sunni, some Shiite, some Ahmadiyah, and some......even of a sect that outside of their sect is universally called terrorists.
Islam has permeated practically all of Malay culture to the point where they, at least the womenfolk, even dress like Arabs. Perhaps they could still claim to be Malays apart from their religion because they speak Malay and not Arabic, and eat Malay food. But they are Muslim converts as well, if the word "convert" is to be used because before they were Islamised, they were animists. They had folk beliefs much like the Chinese had theirs. When a Chinese gives up worshipping tua pek kong, or tse ah peh, or Guanyin, or Guang Gong, and starts worshipping Allah, he is no more a Muslim convert than a Malay who gives up his folk beliefs. So I take umbrage at calling us Hans "Muslim converts" as if we are second-class Muslims, and as if the Malays are Allah's preferred race.

Bonus Point.
I have been to more places in China than Cityhantum and Man(think) combined ever had. I kid you not. I am a proud Han who enjoys roaming around China, free and easy, on my own, without following a tour guide around.

One of the places I liked to visit when there were religious sites...not just churches but any building of any religion, be it a rebuilt Buddhist temple, a Taoist temple that didn't need rebuilding because the Red Guards didn't get to it, or a Mosque. And the oldest mosque in China is centuries......... centuries not decades..........older than any in Malaysia, Singapore, or Indonesia. Islam came to China loooooong before it came to this part of the world when the Malays were still deep and steep in their folk beliefs. That's some perspective.

The good news is Newater is just 1 of the diversified sources...So strategy is avoid putting all eggs in 1 busket...
PUB has already moved to 3 others and perhaps ratios between them can change depending on technology, practicality, efficiency and cost....
The key is avoid being over reliant by a single source.
