Scripture readings for Christmas

(Yesterday, 12:14 PM)Lukongsimi Wrote:  Ignatius, the pastor of Antioch who was martyred in about AD 110 and who may have known the apostle John, wrote: “There is only one physician, who is both flesh and spirit, born and unborn, God in man, true life in death, both from Mary and from God, first subject to suffering and then beyond it, Jesus Christ our Lord. ...

In Acts 7:59, Stephen, who was being stoned, prayed "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." He also knelt and cried out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them"

My question..if Jesus is not God.then who is Stephen praying to?

In the Quran, we are told that the Israelites added their own words to the scriptures and tricked people into believing that it is the word of God.

Also in the Quran, we are to check everything the Christians say about faith. "Show us the proof" if what you say is true.

The only way you can get me to shut my mouth is to unalive me, or show me I am wrong so I can learn.

Yes..I agree. That was what I posted 2 days back..
If there are uncertainties, ask the Christians to show it to you...but it does not say that Muhammad was given the rights to correct on how the Christians interpret matters Big Grin

Anyone who didn't believe this would be judged by God. This passage has been interpreted as referring to Messiah. In it Moses points to a prophet (Jesus) who would be greater than himself, saying, "it is to him you shall listen" (Deut 18:15).

How is Jesus like Moses? There are major differences, and I will give you one that will surprise you. Moses was an Israelite, but Jesus isn't because he was born without an Israelite father.

Peace and blessings be upon the two mighty messengers of God.

The Quran is a recitation, and every word recited is from God.

And yes, perfectly preserved.

LKSM just quoted Isaiah 9, which Christians say is about Jesus.

I disagree, and I've given my arguments why I disagree.

The Quran is one of Allah's revealed book. To say that a book is perfectly preserved, it means that the book should have no textual variants and no alterations to the meaning of the verses..do you agree?

I don't just disagree without substantiating my disagreement.

I gave my arguments to Lukongsimi earlier.

You, on the other hand, just believe without checking.

The understanding of some verses may change over time, as mankind's knowledge increases.

You don't need to argue but you can think if you have the correct faith. You cannot just believe without checking. Even the Bible tells you to check before believing.

Do you take the words and opinion of a trustworthy Islamic scholar like Shabir Ally?

He has a different opinion on the preservation of the Quran

Yes, the disciples and other followers of Jesus all thought Jesus was killed on the cross. So they were surprised when they saw him alive, according to the Gospels. But that story has so many holes. I won't get into that for now.

If I'm not mistaken, SimTan said a few days ago that Jesus predicted his death and resurrection. If it is true that the disciples were told by Jesus that Jesus would die and resurrect 3 days later, why would they be surprised?

There, this is what I mean by thinking. You need to think. Don't just anyhow believe.
