He left native Russia & moved to US after Putin came to power. Not withstanding his technology background, increasingly found that his nationality worked against him, so he moved to Switzerland where it was less of a problem.

Destinus was set up ostensibly to design and develop commercial hypersonic cargo and passenger aircraft, demonstrating its first prototype hydrogen-powered hypersonic plane at the Paris airshow last year.

Kokorich said his company had supplied hundreds of low-cost drones to Ukraine. His factories currently produce three drone models. UAVs are delivered to Ukraine as separate components for assembly at undisclosed military locations.

The Destinus founder was at pains to point out that these drones were not originally designed as weapons: “All our commercial drone projects are dual-use and not purely military.”

The first model produced was Lord UAV, a propeller-driven intelligence, jamming and electromagnetic interception model also capable of striking ground targets. The Lord has a range of 750 to more than 2,000 kilometers, depending on the version used, which is greater than many of UAVs available to Ukrainian forces, such as Ukrjet UJ-22, UJ-25 Skyline and UJ-26 Beaver, whose maximum ranges are 1,000 kilometers or less.

Two other models are also at various stages of development and will soon go into full production and be provided to Kyiv.... Rotfl Clapping

"And because Congress has yet to pass the supplemental bill, we have not been able to provide Ukraine with the artillery shells that they desperately need to disrupt these Russian assaults." Earlier this week, US Senate approved a $95bn (£75bn) foreign aid package - including $60bn for Ukraine - after mths of political wrangling, but it is still facing an uphill battle in the House of Representatives.

Ukraine is critically dependent on weapons supplies from the US and other Western allies to keep fighting Russia - a much bigger military force with an abundance of artillery ammunition. Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg warned on Thursday that US failure to approve continued military assistance to Ukraine was already having an impact on battlefield.

Ukrainian troops, reeling from losing a key town, now face "extremely difficult" conditions all along the frontline with Russia because of delayed foreign aid, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday.

A heightened Russian offensive in eastern and southern Ukraine saw them capture the key town of Avdiivka last week in a major boost ahead of the second anniversary of the February 2022 invasion.

Ukrainian military also says it is critically short of ammunition and shells, worsened by the holdup of a $60 billion US aid package."The situation is extremely difficult in several parts of the front line, where Russian troops have concentrated maximum reserves," Zelensky said after visiting frontline troops in the Kharkiv region.

Russian troops "are taking advantage of the delays in helping Ukraine," Zelensky added, highlighting shortages of artillery, frontline air defence and longer-range weapons.

- New towns threatened -

Ukrainian commanders had predicted that Russia would move troops from Avdiivka to other parts of the frontline. And Ukrainian troops said they were facing "heavy fire" from advancing Russian forces in the southern Zaporizhzhia region. Senior commander Oleksandr Tarnavsky said Russia was launching multiple attacks near the village of Robotyne -- one of the few places where Ukraine regained ground during a counter-offensive last year.

"These offensive attempts are being halted, the enemy is being eliminated in the outskirts of Robotyne," Tarnavsky said in a post on Telegram.
Reports from Russian military bloggers had earlier said Moscow's forces were in the southern edges of the village. Like many settlements across eastern Ukraine, Robotyne has been completely flattened by months of artillery fire.

Now towns like Selydove, 30 kilometres (20 miles) from Avdiivka, fear they could be next in line for a Russian offensive. Increasing numbers of Selydove residents are leaving the town, inhabitants said.

US President Joe Biden told Zelensky on Sunday that he was "confident" the Republican-dominated US Congress would approve the critically needed aid. Biden has said another Ukrainian town could fall to Russia without the aid.

Germany prepares plan to transfer long-range systems to Ukraine; Taurus not mentioned. The media emphasise that the project does not mention Taurus cruise missiles directly. But the document states that "the supply of additional long-range weapons systems and ammunition needed for Ukraine (...) to be able to carry out targeted strikes under international law on strategically important targets located far into the Russian aggressors’ rear".

The kind of long-range weapons systems we are talking about has not been reported.

The German govt coalition is convinced that Ukrainians should be able to attack military depots or supply routes far behind the contact line. Thus, Ukrainian troops will be better protected.

Taurus can reach targets at a distance of more than 500 km. In addition to weapons for Ukraine, the proposal also includes new political and economic sanctions against Russia.

Reported by European Pravda, the govt coalition pressured Scholz to transfer Taurus to Ukraine. Before that, the UK offered Berlin a way to solve the Taurus dilemma for Ukraine.

BERLIN - Britain has offered Germany a swap of cruise missiles that could allow German govt a way to overcome concerns over a suggested delivery of missiles to Ukraine, Germen newspaper Handelsblatt reported on Wednesday.

Kyiv has been pushing Berlin to supply its Taurus missiles, which could give Ukraine ability to cause significant damage deeper within Russian-occupied territory, but German govt has remained hesitant out of concern that could trigger an international escalation of the conflict.

The paper cited govt and diplomatic sources as saying that British govt has proposed to Berlin several wks ago, it could export Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine and, in turn, receive the German Taurus missiles.
The office of German chancellor Olaf Scholz has been analysing this proposal, the report added.
The German govt declined to comment.

A person familiar with negotiations said proposed swap could potentially find support in Berlin. German govt has repeatedly said it will only act in concert with Washington on arms deliveries to Ukraine

In Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian troops brought a group of FPV strike drones into the hangars with hidden invaders’ equipment and destroyed it.

Wild Hornets, developers of drones, released video, of their drone raid as soldiers of the Bulava strike unit of Presidential Brigade “Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi” destroyed vehicles, two tanks, BMPs, and the ARV of the enemy. According to the servicemen, the Russian secretly pulled military equipment to carry out offensive, but an unexpected strike thwarted these plans. One can see drones penetrate the building 1-by- to find their target!, after they successfully hit it. Presumably, all equipment burned down & drone hits by large-scale fire.

In their message, drone operators drew special attention to the fact that they used FPV drones of the Wild Hornets worth UAH 200 thousand to destroy all equipment, which is slightly more than $million.

Following equipment can be identified in the video:
2 tanks (presumably T-72 and T-80),
BREM-1 armored recovery vehicle,
BMP-3,
2 Ural trucks, and those other inside... Rotfl

That’s b'cos GOP’s thin margin of control leaves Speaker Mike Johnson with few politically palatable choices as he considers Senate aid bill that many in his party want to scrap. But if Johnson tries to ignore the bill, a potential rebellion could begin to brew among rank-and-file members in the ideological middle who still want to see Ukraine aid pass.

Several players or blocs are positioned to grab power over the aid measure once it reaches the House — starting with Johnson himself. it’s hard to see that type of response quieting the eagerness among establishment and centrist Republicans to vote on the legislation anyway.

Ukrainian Military Aviation Could Get 5th Generation Fighter Jet in 2030s The 3rd level is level of a certain increase in capabilities, can be attributed to the acquisition of old Western fighters with modern weapons: Danish & Dutch F-16MLU or Australian decommissioned F/A-18A.

On current stage Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is now approaching, to receiving F-16 from Europe. In addition, the option of Sweden transferring its JAS-39C Gripen should also be considering. The Gripen option becomes realistic after Sweden joins NATO. At least in Stockholm, such a possibility was studied. Defense Express.

The 4th level is level to the advanced 5th level capabilities will allow, at least, to achieve parity with mad Putin/Russia.

Ukraine can have their fight againt enemy air forces in shorter time's, about 3-5 yrs.

This includes newest fighters: F-16V, Rafale, Typhoon, F-15EX, F-35, KF-21, KAAN.

The Turkish 5th generation fighter KAAN has made its first flight. Ok.

According to latest information, it is expected in March of this year. Passing tests, concluding a contract, setting up export production will take a long time.

This presumably Ukraine want to and does want to purchase a Turkish aircraft, for their Ukraine Air Force will receive it, approximately, only in 2028-2030.

The purchase of KAAN does not negate Ukraine’s need for decommissioned Western aircraft, which can be obtained as soon as possible. However...soon.

  1. it is interesting that ambassador's comment regarding the KAAN s was made against the background.
To cancellation Putin's visit to Turkey. This moreover, only recently Nuland (he) voiced a proposal to Turkey to abandon the Russian S-400 air defense systems. (Good)

As the war enters a third year, relations between Ukraine and Poland remain tense as the allies, the February 24 anniversary take place amid prolonged protests at Poland-Ukraine border by Polish farmers who say market has been flooded with cheap agricultural products from Ukraine.Week after week, Poland is killing Ukraine’s European future, the European Pravda, one of Ukraine’s most news outlets, wrote in January.

Warsaw also supplied Kyiv with Soviet-era military equipment it had left in its reserves and flourished into Ukraine’s staunchest advocate among Western nations. The Russian invasion in late February 2022 brought the two nations and govs much closer. At the time, no questions were asked. We rushed to help Ukrainians,” said Bartosz Cichocki, Poland’s ambassador to Ukraine, who stayed in Kyiv following Russia’s invasion as the only NATO and EU ambassador. “While they fought, we took care of their families and provided them with ammunition. It was a fight for survival and a period of great solidarity and unity.

Bill assisting Ukraine, Israel & Taiwan is set to pass as soo. Then comes a multi-front battle across Capitol to determine its fate. Senate did approve $95B national security funding package, delivering long-stalled aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. But House will take its turn & will be a multi-directional battle to decide fate of the bill.

That’s b'cos GOP’s thin margin of control leaves Speaker Mike Johnson with few politically choices as he considers Senate aid bill, many in his party want to scrap. But if Johnson tries to ignore bill, a potential rebellion could begin to brew among rank-N-file members in the middle who still want to see Ukraine aid pass.

Several players or blocs are positioned to grab power over aid measure once it reaches House — starting with Johnson himself. it’s hard to see response quieting eagerness among establishment and centrist Republicans to vote on the legislation anyway.

“There's a general belief we need to get it done” shared by House Republicans."

Democrats in U.S. House of Representatives have begun laying the groundwork for a potential bid to sidestep Republican Speaker Mike Johnson and force a vote on a $95 billion security assistance package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, House aides said Friday.

Representative Jim McGovern, top Democrat on the House Rules Committee, filed legislation on Feb 15 be used as vehicle for a discharge petition, a rarely used procedural tool eventually could force a vote on bill if at least 218 House members — a majority of the chamber's 435 voting members — sign it.
Under House rules, Ukraine backers could begin collecting signatures for petition around March 1.
