It is not a new interpretation. I've said it before albeit I never gave you an example. The verse 10:94 clearly says it, to ask the people of the book who were with the prophet صلي الله عليه وسلم.

Where did it say ask the people of the book who were with the prophet...these people who believe in his prophethood are moslems who used to be jews and Christians....kelong!
