Despite all this, Taiwanese voters are wary of the KMT and there is scandal also on tge KMT side.

Main thing is the ties with China. Last thing Taiwanese wants is to end up as another HK under China or tu be economically dependent on China. China can use economic dependence to impose its will on Taiwan.

To preserve their way of life and not come under communism, Taiwan has to beef up its defense and spend more here to deter attacks. So far DPP does a better job than KMT here.

Well, if one were to look at the period where KMT, and compare them with DPP who runs the island. 

Many younger generations in Taiwan are now beginning to understand whatever DPP used to claim on KMT before. DPP has done more than KMT be it in corruptions, more people loses their jobs in the past 7 years under DPP. And evidences shows that DPP has lost 9 allies as well as most of their legislators were involved in scandals as well as corruptions. 

Is this the kind of democracy country one would accept? Is this how you see Taiwan?
