If I buy something from the market, why I can't use it?
If you don't want people to use it, don't sell it in the market.
Just keep your products in the warehouse.

If I'm a Singapore distributor and I'm not allowed to sell to customers, why would I buy the products?

"US export restrictions and enforcement concerns
US authorities are investigating whether Singapore served as an intermediary for restricted Nvidia chip shipments to DeepSeek, raising broader concerns about gaps in enforcing export restrictions.
Although Singapore accounts for approximately 20% of Nvidia’s reported revenue, filings indicate that most shipments listed under Singapore were destined for other regions.
Nvidia denies any evidence of diversion but stated it will act on any discovered violations.
Howard Lutnick, President Donald Trump’s nominee for Commerce Secretary, addressed the issue during his confirmation hearing.
“DeepSeek’s model was driven by Nvidia chips they weren’t supposed to have. They found ways around it, and it’s got to end,” Lutnick said."

Many Americans in IT on X are disgusted with this action by the US, as it smacks of loser mentality.

Last time, they were never told not to sell to DeekSeek.
How to punish?
Now, they don't have to punish. DeepSeek would buy from Huawei rather than from Nvidia.
Nvidia would be bankrupt lah.

After losing to a young startup, they want to squeeze and attack the young competitor by using all sorts of excuses to belittle and slam the competitor

Likely that Deepseek is getting the H100 AI chips through Nvidia Singapore. But that was in early 2024 and before the US Sanction on AI chips came into play. Actually H100 was superceded by H200. Then Nvidia has 3 more chips in the pipeline. They were about to sell them in China in 2024. Deepseek can only get H100 chips.

FLG pukimak talking cock again!!! PTOOI!!!
Deepseek was trained using H800 Nvidia chips, NOT H100!
Now they are testing them with Huawei chips as there's no need for the ultra high end AI chips that the H100s are.

Nvidia CEO skipped Trump’s inauguration and visited Beijing on the same day, and in order to get around with the U.S. chip restrictions to China, he produced lower range of chips for China. Why is he doing that? Because China is the largest market of Nvidia, and he himself is also a 3rd generation mainlanders from Zhejiang province of China despite that he was born in Tainan.
Chip 4 restriction bans high end chip exports to China, only lower end chips are allowed. DeepSeek uses Nvidia lower end chips not these 3-7 nm types
