Houthi rebels claim to have orchestrated one of their largest attacks on US shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The group said they sent 37 drones to attack US navy war ships and a commercial ship, the Singapore-flagged Propel Fortune. although the merchant vessels targeted have often had little or no link to Israel. It has culminated in several vessels being rerouted, passing through the Suez Canal and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait to take a longer route around South Africa’s Cape of Good Hope.

A statement by group’s military spokesperson, Yahya Sarea, said attack had been a success but provided no evidence. Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels have launched repeated strikes on international commercial shipping in the Red Sea since mid-Nov in response to the conflict in Gaza,

SANAA, Yemeni Houthi group targets US naval ship, several destroyers in Red Sea, on Saturday that it used naval missiles and drones to target US military ship and several destroyers in Red Sea & Gulf of Aden, & "successfully achieved" their objectives in separate "operations.

"The Yemeni Armed Forces' naval and air forces conducted two specific military operations," Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said in a statement.
(isit the govt of  Yemeni)

"First ops targeted American ship 'Propel Fortune' in Gulf of Aden with several suitable naval missiles, while 2nd operation targeted afew U.S. destroyers in Red Sea & Gulf of Aden with 37 drones, & two ops successfully achieved their goals," This was the Yemeni group's largest attack on Israeli, U.S. and British and others shipping's, while, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced downing of 15 Houthi drones in Yemen following the latter's "large-scale attack" with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in Red Sea & in Gulf of Aden starting 4am - 6:30am. (Sanaa time), Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists conducted large-scale uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) attack into Red Sea & Gulf of Aden,” CENTCOM said.

CENTCOM coalition forces identified as one-way attack (OWA) UAVs & determined they presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels, U.S. Navy, and coalition ships in the region,  U.S. Navy vessels and aircraft along with multiple coalition navy ships and aircraft shot down 15 OWA UAVs.

Earlier on Saturday, CENTCOM announced a strike against two anti-ship missiles in Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen on Friday. Tensions have escalated in the Red Sea amid Houthi attacks on commercial ships suspected of having links with Israel. The Houthis say their attacks aim to pressure Israel to halt its deadly onslaught on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 30,800 people and injured over 72,400 others since an Oct. 7 cross-border offensive by the Palestinian group Hamas.

As US / UK launched airstrikes as of Jan. 12 against Houthi targets in Yemen in retaliation attacks, have created fears of new bout of inflation & supply chain disruption. Red Sea is one of the world's most frequently used sea routes for oil & fuel ships.
The Houthis have the world’s attention — and they won’t give it up

What do Yemen’s suddenly world-famous rebels really want, and what will make them stop?.

Until last week, the damage wrought by the campaign of attacks Yemen’s Houthis have been waging against shipping in the Red Sea has been mostly measured in dollars and cents. Cargo ships have made long, expensive detours around the Cape of Good Hope; a Tesla factory in Germany halted production thanks to a shortage of parts; Egypt’s cash-strapped government is struggling with the loss of Suez Canal transit fees as ships avoid the Red Sea.

But the crisis took a serious and deadly turn over the past week. Last Saturday, for the first time, the Houthis sank a ship. The tanker Rubymar was struck by a Houthi missile on February 18, and finally sank after weeks of taking on water. In the process of sinking, the Rubymar’s anchor likely damaged three key underwater telecommunications cables in the Red Sea, according to US officials. Meanwhile, the Rubymar’s cargo of 21,000 metric tons of fertilizer threatens to cause an environmental disaster.

Then on Wednesday, three sailors were killed in a missile strike on the container ship True Confidence, some 50 miles off the Yemeni coast. They were the first reported fatalities caused by the Houthi attacks.

Houthis’ Red Sea campaign is already the most disruptive, consequential, and attention-grabbing of the actions taken by the so-called “Axis of Resistance” of Iranian-backed proxy groups.

The unit's mandate encompasses overseeing military preparations for potential Iranian threats, with a particular emphasis on countering Iran's nuclear ambition, it signals preparedness to confront Iranian-sponsored terrorism across multiple theaters, including Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip too..

Iran is currently at the helm of a regional proxy war which has seen its militias come out in support of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, in a war which has escalated to draw in international players including the US and UK.

In recent years, Israel has ramped up its airstrikes on Syria in a bid to thwart Tehran's growing reliance on aerial supply routes for delivering arms to its allies in Syria and Lebanon, notably Hezbollah.

New unit counters claims from former Israeli PM Ehud Olmert who said last wk Israel's air force lacks necessary resources to halt Iran's nuclear program through military action amid the two nations' shadow war. In an interview with The National, Olmert, a long time rival of PM Netanyahu, "who said can destroy their HQ, important projects, railways, roads & airports. Israel Is hoping to escalate hostilities with Hezbollah in Lebanon?. Israel’s PM Netanyahu maybe trying to extend his country’s conflicts to maintain his hold on power, analysts argue.

Iran's Influence Over 'Palestinian Arm,' Is Waning, Revealing Cracks in Its Proxy Strategy. The 'axis of resistance' has served Iran's purposes, affording Tehran indirect control in international affairs. But as Hamas, Hezbollah & Houthis act according to their own agendas with local considerations, Tehran's strategy exposes its weaknesses.

Ever since it was founded in 1987, Hamas has been seen as an organization that operates according to Iran's instructions, a Palestinian branch of the "axis of evil," whose head is in Tehran. The war in Gaza has made it clear that this axiom was meant to artificially inflate the threat posed by Hamas in particular and the Iranian axis in general.

The official IRNA news agency on March 26 said Behruz Vahedi, a member of the IRGC’s expeditionary wing, the Quds Force, had been killed in alleged Israeli air strikes on Deir al-Zor in eastern Syria.

Media close to the Syrian government have accused the United States of carrying out the strikes. Neither the United States nor Israel has commented.

Earlier, the U.K.-based Syrian Observatory For Human Rights said 13 people were killed in the attack, including 12 non-Syrian members of the IRGC.

At least 11 Iranian members of the IRGC have been killed in suspected Israeli strikes on Syria and Lebanon since the start of the war in Gaza in October.

Iran-backed Palestinian leader vows victory over Israel in the war in Gaza

TEHRAN , Iran (AP) — The leader of the Iran-backed Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad vowed victory over Israel in the war in Gaza as he met Iran’s foreign minister for talks in Tehran Sat. “I promise you that we will be the victors in the war,” Ziad al-Nakhalah told reporters, according to the official IRNA news agency. He called his meeting with Iran’s foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahian “important” and thanked Iran for its support for the Palestinians. Iran hasn’t directly intervened in the Israel-Hamas war, despite long describing Israel as its archenemy. However, experts say Iran provides both financial and political support to Islamic Jihad and Hamas, the militant group that runs Gaza launched the Oct. 7 attack on Israel in which more than 1,200 people were killed and about 250 were taken hostage.

“Active diplomacy by Islamic Republic of Iran has had a great role in defining the stance of Palestinian resistance,” al-Nakhalah was quoted as saying.

TEHRAN, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani on Sunday condemned a deadly Israeli bombing earlier in the day on tents inside a hospital in Gaza Strip, which killed 4-Palestinians and wounded 17 others.

Kanaani said on social media platform X that Israel's aggression in the Gaza Strip is continuing before the world peoples' eyes, noting that the bombing was Israel's "newest crime that has derided all international laws and regulations."

Palestinian eyewitnesses and sources told Xinhua that a drone fired at least one missile at tents housing displaced persons and journalists in the courtyard of the Al-Aqsa Hospital in the city of Deir al-Balah.

The Israel Defense Forces said on its official X account that an IAF (Israeli Air Force) aircraft struck an operational Islamic Jihad command center positioned in the courtyard of the Al-Aqsa Hospital, adding that the hospital building was not damaged, and its function was not affected.

A total of 32,782 Palestinians have been killed and over 75,298 others injured in the Gaza Strip since Israel began its offensive in the Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023.
