This initiative underscores the country’s capability to undertake major naval projects independently. The carrier will feature three runways, with two designated for takeoffs and one for landings.

Turkiye Graphic Rendering of Turkey’s First Aircraft Carrier. Initially, it will not include a catapult system; instead, the DPO plans to equip it with a modular ramp systey.

However, in the long term, Turkish engineers aim to develop a domestic catapult system to replace the initial modular ramp.

Turkey’s first aircraft carrier will accommodate up to 50 combat aircraft, with 20 stationed on the deck and 30 housed within the hangar. Carrier is expected to deploy various aircraft including the “Hurjet” light combat aircraft and the “Anka-3” unmanned fighter developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).

Additionally, it will carry the “Kizilelma” unmanned fighter and the “Bayraktar TB-3” armed drone developed by Baykar Technology. Preliminary reports suggest that Turkey plans to develop a naval variant of the fifth-generation fighter aircraft “KAAN,” which will eventually serve aboard the carrier, although these details are still in the early stages.

Turkey’s First Aircraft Carrier. Turkish defense media have indicated the number of aircraft the carrier can transport will increase as the project progresses. Currently, the carrier is set to be equipped with a MIDLAS 32-Cell VLS (Vertical Launching System) for air defense missiles and four Gökdeniz Close-in Weapon Systems (CIWS) for self-defense.

In terms of technical specifications, the carrier will measure 285 meters in length and is expected to weigh around 60,000 tons, making it a medium-sized vessel compared to the British HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales.

In contrast, US aircraft carriers weigh up to 100,000 tons. The Turkish carrier will be powered by a Combined Gas Turbine and Gas Turbine (COGAG) engine, enabling it to reach speeds of 25 knots.

Anadolu: The TCG Anadolu is now the largest vessel in the Turkish Navy, weighing 27,000 tons.

USS Gerald R.Ford weighs more than 100,000 tonnes

Following successful development and commissioning of its largest warship and drone carrier, TCG Anadolu, Turkey has decided to begin designing its own aircraft carrier. For several years, President Erdogan has expressed his vision for Turkey to build its own aircraft carriers to fulfill its strategic needs in the region.

This decision to start the design work on a domestic aircraft carrier was made following a meeting of the country’s Executive Committee on Defense Industry last January. — DSA

Israel said to give Hamas week ultimatum to choose between hostage deal or Rafah.

Hamas has one week to agree to hostage deal on table or it will launch its long-pledged offensive in Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah, Wall Street Journal reports.

Report doesn’t specify when the ultimatum was given, but cites Egyptian officials speaking today, meaning Hamas would have until next Friday to agree to the deal.

On the other hand, PM Benjamin Netanyahu has been threatening to enter Rafah for months, claiming repeatedly during that period that an invasion was imminent.

The Journal says Hamas’s political leadership abroad was handed latest proposal green-lit by Israel last weekend and is expected to arrive in Cairo in the coming days to discuss it further. However, the terror group’s preeminent leaders in Gaza — namely Yahya Sinwar — have yet to respond to the proposal, and it was unclear whether they’ve even seen it, as they hide in tunnels underneath Gaza.

Hamas’s leadership abroad has offered mixed signals regarding the latest offer, and unnamed Egyptian officials tell WSJ that the terror group is chafing at what it says is the proposal’s vague details regarding the length of the truce. Hamas wants a long-term ceasefire bolstered by US guarantees that Israel will respect its terms and fears the current proposal will allow Israel to resume fighting within a short period of time.

According to the report, the offer would include a first phase lasting up to 40 days in which up to 33 Israeli hostages would be released. Around this time, the sides would begin negotiations for a more permanent ceasefire. The second phase would last for at least six weeks and see the sides agree to a larger hostage release and commit to a further pause in fighting that could last up to a year.

WSJ says Hamas and Israel also remain at odds on the return of Palestinians to northern Gaza, though the US has said Israel has agreed to the unrestricted return of Gaza civilians to areas cleared by the IDF. As for swapping Israeli hostages for Palestinian security prisoners, the sides have been largely in line with one another.

WSJ says Hamas will likely respond to the latest proposal with an updated offer of its own, rather than rejecting it outright.

Two Israeli reservists have been killed in a drone attack by the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah, the Israeli army said on Tuesday.

The two 31-year-old soldiers were killed on Monday in an incident on Israel's northern border, the army said. Drone loaded with explosives had hit a building in the town of Metulla. According to media reports, the army was unable to intercept the unmanned aerial vehicle. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to Lebanese reports, four civilians - a couple and their two sons - were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon on Sunday.

The attack took place in the village of Mais al-Jabal near the common border. Two other people were injured. The house that was attacked was badly damaged.

Since the beginning of the Gaza war seven months ago, there have been repeated military confrontations between Israel's army and the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon on the border, with multiple casualties on both sides.

The mutual shelling has already caused severe destruction in villages on both sides of the border. About 150,000 people have either been evacuated or have left the combat zone.

Lebanese Christian leader says Hezbollah’s fighting with Israel has harmed Lebanon.

MAARAB, Lebanon (AP) — The leader of a main Christian political party in Lebanon blasted the Shiite militant group Hezbollah for opening a front with Israel to back up its ally Hamas, saying it has harmed Lebanon without making a dent in Israel’s crushing offensive in the Gaza Strip.

In an interview with Associated Press on Tuesday night, Samir Geagea of Lebanese Forces Party said Hezbollah should withdraw from areas along border from Israel & Lebanese army should deploy in all points where militants of the Iran-backed group have taken positions.

His comments came as Western diplomats try to broker a de-escalation the border conflict amid fears of wider war. Hezbollah began launching rockets toward Israeli military posts on Oct. 8, day after Hamas-led militants stormed into southern Israel in a surprise attack that sparked the crushing war in Gaza.

The near-daily violence has mostly been confined to the area along the border, and international mediators have been scrambling to prevent an all-out war. The fighting has killed 12 soldiers and 10 civilians in Israel. More than 350 people have been killed in Lebanon including 273 Hezbollah fighters and more than 50 civilians.

Lebanese Christian leader says Hezbollah’s fighting with Israel has harmed Lebanon.
“No one has the right to control the fate of a country and people on its own,” Geagea said in his heavily guarded headquarters in the mountain village of Maarab. “

Hezbollah's not govt of Lebanon.

There is a govt in Lebanon in which Hezbollah is represented.” In addition to its military arm, Hezbollah is a political party. The party has largest bloc in Lebanon’s 128-member parliament, has angled to position himself as the leader of the opposition against Hezbollah.

Hezbollah officials have said that by opening front along Israel’s northern border, the militant group has reduced the pressure on Gaza by keeping several Israeli army divisions on alert in the north rather than taking part in the month long offensive in the enclave.

All the damage that could have happened in Gaza ... happened benefit in ops in south pointing to the death toll and massive destruction in Lebanon’s border villages war against has killed more than many caused wide destruction and displaced hundreds of thousands to city along border.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed Tuesday to launch an offensive into the southern Gaza city of Rafah despite international calls for restraint. Hezbollah aims ongoing fighting to benefit oni main backer, Iran, by giving it a presence along Israel’s border and called for withdraw from border areas & Lebanese army deploy in accordance with a U.N. Security Council resolution that ended the 34-day Israel-Hezbollah war in 2006.

Geagea also discussed the campaign by his party to repatriate Syrian refugees who fled war into Lebanon. Those calls intensified after a Syrian gang blamed for last mth’s killing of Lebanese Forces official Pascal Suleiman, allegedly in a carjacking gone wrong, although many initially suspected political motives.

Lebanon, with a total population of around 6 million, hosts what U.N. refugee agency says are nearly 785,000 U.N.-registered Syrian refugees, of 90% rely on aid to survive. Lebanese estimate there may be 1.5 mil or 2 mil, of whom only around 300,000 have legal residency. Syria is not safe for mass returns, many Syrians who have gone back — voluntarily or not — have been detained and tortured.

Geagea, whose party is adamantly opposed to govt of President Bashar Assad in Syria, insisted only a small percentage of Syrians in Lebanon are true political refugees and that those who are could go to opposition-controlled areas of Syria.

Lebanese politician suggested his country should follow in steps of Western countries like Britain, which passed controversial legislation last week to deport some asylum seekers to Rwanda. “Lebanon we should tell them, guys, go back to your country. Syria exists,” said Geagea, who headed the largest Christian militia during Lebanon’s 1975-90 civil war.

A US Navy aircraft carrier is rearmed and back in the Red Sea amid a Houthi missile crisis with no end in sight. Two US Navy warships on the front lines of the Houthi battle are back in the Red Sea.
The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and USS Gravely made a recent port visit in Greece. A Navy spokesperson confirmed that the two ships were resupplied and rearmed there.

The US Navy aircraft carrier that spent months battling the Houthis in the Red Sea is rearmed and back in the waterway after a short break. The warship's return comes as American intelligence officials warn the conflict may go on for a while.

The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Gravely are back in the Red Sea to continue their maritime security mission after a recent port visit in Souda Bay, Greece, a Navy spokesperson confirmed to Business Insider on Tuesday.

US Naval Support Activity Souda Bay, located on the Mediterranean island of Crete, is a decades-old forward-operating station where American and NATO vessels can receive maintenance, cargo, food, fuel, supplies, and ammunition.

During the brief port visit, the two ships were resupplied and rearmed while their sailors enjoyed some relaxing downtime, the spokesperson said. It marked their first stop since their ongoing deployment began in mid-October.

USNI News first reported on Monday that the Eisenhower was back in the Red Sea. Since it first arrived in region, a high-tempo combat environment, the Navy's Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group — consists of, the Gravely, and several other warships — has defended shipping lanes in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden from relentless Houthi missile and drone attacks.

Rear Adm. Marc Miguez, commander of carrier strike group, said sailors "have worked tirelessly for 6 mths straight to keep us operating on station in most challenging, dynamic combat environment the Navy has seen in decades." Navy expanded nearly $1 bil in missiles to counter Houthi threats. Beyond intercepting attacks in air, US forces have conducted strikes in Yemen, hammering the Iran-backed rebels b4 they have a chance to launch their weapons.
IDF kills top Islamic Jihad commander in Rafah amid wave of Gaza airstrikes, battles. The Israeli Air Force struck more than 70 targets across the Gaza Strip in the past day, the military says, as ground forces operate in Rafah, Jabaliya, and the Netzarim Corridor.

According to IDF, targets included weapon depots, infrastructure, and buildings belonging to terror groups, as well as operatives. One of the airstrikes in Rafah hit a senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative, who the IDF says was head of logistics for the terror group in the city in southern Gaza. “As part of his role, he was responsible for preparing the enemy for the IDF maneuver in Rafah,” the military says.

In eastern Rafah, the military says troops of the Givati Brigade spotted and killed an RPG-wielding operative in a building near them. Givati troops raided several sites in the area, locating weapons, the IDF adds. Also in eastern Rafah, the Egoz commando unit located a rocket launcher at a building used by terror groups, the IDF says.

Meanwhile in Jabaliya in the Strip’s north, the IDF says the Paratroopers Brigade killed several gunmen during several engagements; the 7th Armored Brigade located a primed rocket launcher and killed several more gunmen in battles; and the 460th Armored Brigade located several tunnel shafts and killed an RPG-wielding operative.

In the Strip’s center, the 99th Division continued to battle gunmen in the Netzarim Corridor area, including by calling in airstrikes, the IDF says. In one incident in central Gaza, troops of the 414th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit spotted a cell that had fired RPGs at troops and directed a drone to strike and kill the operatives, the army adds.
