The Israel-Hamas war reached a grim milestone of 100 days on Sunday (Jan 14), with more civilian deaths in Gaza, and relatives of dozens of hostages still awaiting their freedom.
There were also casualties in the West Bank an on Israel-Lebanon border sparked unprecedented attacks on Israel, has created a humanitarian catastrophe for 2.4 million people in Hamas-ruled Gaza, the UN and aid groups warn, and reduced much of the coastal strip to rubble. UN says roughly 85% of the territory's population have been displaced, crowded into shelters and struggling to get food, water, fuel and medical care.
"It's been 100 days and our situation is very bad," said Mohammad Kahil, displaced to Rafah, in southern Gaza near Egypt, from the territory's north. "There's no food, no water, no heating. We are dying from the cold."
The war began when Gaza-based Hamas attacked on Oct 7, resulting in about 1,140 deaths in Israel, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official figures.

Explosions were heard in Yemen on Monday near Hodeidah airport and a US-owned cargo ship near Aden was hit by a Houthi missile.
Zoubaidi’s call for western forces to aid a ground operation against the Houthis may unnerve some in western capitals who fear a regional military escalation and still hope the missile strikes will be sufficient to degrade Houthi capacity to threaten commercial shipping.
Zoubaidi also challenged Houthi claims that the attacks on Red Sea shipping are solely directed at Israeli-linked traffic and in solidarity with terriorist Palestinians in Gaza.
“The Houthis are tools of Iran in the region and specifically of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,” he said. “Iran wants to send a signal to the international community that it and not Saudi Arabia is the primary actor in the region,

Identifying Houthi targets is proving to be challenging for US forces. American and other Western intelligence agencies have not spent significant time or resources in recent years collecting data on the location of Houthi air defenses, command hubs,...

Russia oill depot is kana hit by Ukrainian drone, media say four oil tanks caught alight and the fire then spread over an area of 1,000 sq m (10,763sq ft). Russian authorities in Bryansk region say no-one was hurt. Bryansk governor said drone was intercepted near town of Klintsy & its explosives then fell on the oil depot. An unprecedented attack targeted a major oil loading terminal in Russia's second city, St Petersburg, on Thursday.
Russian reports suggested that drone was shot down without causing damage but there were indications in Kyiv that the attack, so far from the Ukrainian border, marked a new phase in strategy. "Yes, last night we hit the target. This thing crossed 1,250km (776 miles) last night," said Ukraine's Strategic Industries Minister Oleksandr Kamyshin on Thursday.
Russia's defence ministry said on Friday that its air defence systems had brought down a Ukrainian drone over Bryansk at 06:40 local time (03:40 GMT) and regional head Alexander Bogomaz said later that two further drones had been destroyed without damage.
As the fire raged for several hours at the Klintsy oil depot some 70km north of the Ukrainian border, black smoke was seen billowing over neighbouring railway tracks. More than 30 people were evacuated, the governor added. There were also reports of a drone strike on a gunpowder factory near the city of Tambov, hundreds of kilometres north-east of the Ukrainian border.
A source at Ukraine's main intelligence directorate told media in Kyiv there would be further attacks on military targets inside Russia. The drone strike is the second on Russian oil facilities in two days.
