Gunmen took around 250 hostages back to Gaza on Oct 7, more than 100 of whom were released in exchange for about 240 Palestinians held in Israeli jails during a week-long truce in November. There are 116 hostages left in the coastal enclave, according to Israeli tallies, including at least 40 whom Israeli authorities have declared dead in absentia.

The spokesperson for Hamas' armed al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Ubaida, said some hostages were killed during the rescue operation. Hamas had earlier said it still held a large number of hostages.
Attempts by the United States and regional countries to forge a deal that would release all remaining hostages in return for a ceasefire have repeatedly failed as Israel presses its assault in Gaza. Fresh airstrikes in the southern city of Rafah hit homes later on Saturday, residents and Hamas officials said.

US provided intelligence that helped Israel’s hostage rescue operation – report. Officials tell New York Times that US and UK analysts in Israel have been providing material from drone flights and cyberspace to help locate captives.

Citing unnamed American and Israeli officials briefed on the matter, The New York Times reported that a team of American officials in Israel helped the operation by “providing intelligence and other logistical support.” The Israel Defense Forces later Saturday released footage of all four hostages reuniting with members of their families at Ramat Gan’s Sheba Medical Center.

It was the third successful operation of its kind since October 7. The first was the rescue of soldier Ori Megidish in late October. In early December, the IDF attempted to rescue another hostage, but he was killed. And in February, hostages Fernando Marman, 61, and Louis Har, 70, were rescued from southern Gaza’s Rafah.

Noa Argamani, 26, Almog Meir Jan, 21, Andrey Kozlov, 27, and Shlomi Ziv, 40, had been abducted from the Supernova music festival near the Re’im kibbutz on the morning of October 7, when some 3,000 Hamas-led terrorists killed 1,200 people and took 251 hostages in a murderous rampage in southern Israel.

In a daytime operation, Argamani was rescued from one site in Gaza’s Nuseirat camp on Saturday, while Meir Jan, Kozlov, and Ziv were rescued together from another nearby building.

Intelligence provided by the United States helped Israel carry out the successful mission to rescue four hostages from the Gaza Strip over the weekend, according to a Saturday report. Citing unnamed American & Israeli briefed on matter, New York Times reported a team of American officials in Israel helped operation by “providing intelligence & other logistical support.”

Noa Argamani, 26, Almog Meir Jan, 21, Andrey Kozlov, 27, and Shlomi Ziv, 40, had been abducted from the Supernova music festival near the Re’im kibbutz on the morning of October 7, when some 3,000 Hamas-led terrorists killed 1,200 people and took 251 hostages in a murderous rampage in southern Israel.

A senior Israeli defense official with details of hostage rescue efforts was quoted as saying that intelligence collecting and analysis teams from US & UK have been in Israel during war helping their counterparts to gather and process information about hostages. Israeli said the US & British teams did not take part in planning hostage rescue operations. However, Israeli & US officials said supplementary intelligence they provided was valuable.

Jake Sullivan, the US national security adviser, in a hint at American assistance, said in a statement about the recent successful rescue: “The United States is supporting all efforts to secure the release of hostages still held by Hamas, including American citizens. This includes through ongoing negotiations or other means.”

He also stressed that a current proposal for a hostage release in return for a truce “would secure the release of all the remaining hostages together with security assurances for Israel and relief for the innocent civilians in Gaza.”

The hostages rescued Saturday, who had been in Hamas captivity for eight months, were all in good condition, according to initial medical assessments. They were taken by helicopters from the Strip to hospitals in Israel for further evaluation. The Israel Defense Forces later Saturday released footage of all four hostages reuniting with members of their families at Ramat Gan’s Sheba Medical Center.

It was 3rd successful operation of its kind since Oct 7. First was rescue of soldier Ori Megidish in late Oct. In early Dec, IDF attempted to rescue another hostage, but he was killed. in February, hostages Fernando Marman, 61, & Louis Har, 70, were rescued from southern Gaza’s Rafah.

Following Saturday’s rescue, 116 of the 251 hostages abducted by Hamas on October 7 still remain in Gaza, though dozens of them are thought to be dead. A weeklong truce in late November saw 105 civilians released from Hamas captivity and four hostages were released before that.

Denmark is anticipating the arrival of 27 new F-35 fighter jets - the first of which arrived in Denmark in September 2023.

Ukraine's forces may have struck Russia's newest S-500 air-defense system using U.S.-supplied ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) missiles, according to a journalist in the country.

"It reported: The newest Russian S-500 air defense system was destroyed by ATACMS cluster missiles that cost of one of these reaches $600 million," a Ukrainian journalist, said on his Telegram channel, without elaborating on when or where the system was allegedly destroyed. 

Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine's HUR military intelligence agency, told Ukrainian media on June 12. Russia had placed components of an S-500 anti-aircraft missile system in annexed Crimea, military expert assessed earlier this month Russia could have 4 of those S-500s—also known as the Prometheus surface-to-air missile system (SAM).

Newsweek couldn't independently verify Tsaplienko's claim and has contacted Russian and Ukrainian authorities for comment by email

Belarus threatens to use nuclear weapons if "independence" is threatened. Belarus' Chief of General Staff Pavel Muraveyka has threatened to use tactical nuclear weapons "if the country's sovereignty and independence are threatened".

There's initiated but the unconditional withdrawal from Gaza in 2005, letting people to live. If there was a reliable leader or a Palestinian could considered a as partner for negotiations, but peace in not long to last. The problem cannot stop by Yasser Arafat or latest case, Mahmoud Abbas fail too, both didn't (leader), cannot controls Gaza & but Westbank are abit better for (westbank),
