Opposition Leader Yair Lapid says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should pursue normalization with Saudi Arabia as proposed by Washington by agreeing to a pathway to a future Palestinian state. He also argues that doing so would undercut efforts to prosecute the premier at the International Court of Justice.
“Netanyahu should announce that he has entered into negotiations with the Saudis, including the Palestinian component,” Lapid tells Army Radio.

Iran International news: --- People hold Palestinian flags in front as conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas continues,
Israeli Security Expert: This Is a War Between Iran and Western Values. (3 hours ago)
An Israeli security expert, who served for 15 years as an intelligence officer in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), told Iran International that the war between Israel and Hamas is actually a war between Iran and Western values. “I truly believe that the ayatollahs of Iran are promoting a campaign which is a threat not only to Israel. It's not just Israel's problem, the world is familiar with ISIS & Al Qaeda as a radical form of Sunni Islam,
what Iranian ayatollahs says – not the Iranian people – as a representation of radical Shiite Islam, according to Zehavi. She believes Iran wants to distribute its Islamic Revolution values around the world. Iranian regime, for example, has been militarily and diplomatically supporting Russia in its invasion of Ukraine. The alliance between Iran, Russia and China, forming to counter Western sanctions, is another threat to economic and political basis of existing Western systems.
Iran’s challenge to the West has only intensified with its controversial nuclear program. During this year's Iranian new year speech, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said the US will have no choice but to leave Middle East. The launch of October 7 with Iran as the so-called ‘boss’ of Hamas, as Zehavi puts it, was just the beginning. “It’s under the same boss: the ayatollahs of Iran that planned this campaign and created the militias, the proxy militias in all over the region that will enable it to carry out the campaign,” said Zehavi.
Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles towards Israel on April 13, nearly two weeks after a suspected Israeli strike on an Iranian diplomatic compound in Syria that killed seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) members, including a very senior IRGC commander Mohammad Reza Zahedi - in his office adjacent to the Iranian embassy in Damascus.
Israel, along with the U.S. and its Arab neighbours intercepted 99 percent of the drones and missiles headed its way.
“This is a very interesting incident because Iran's main goal is to keep the conflict outside of Iran itself and use the proxy militia. I think that the fact that we don't understand completely why they decided to interfere by themselves, but it definitely can indicate the self-confidence of the ayatollahs of Iran that no one will put them at risk,” said Zehavi. ‘
Lieutenant Colonel Sarit Zehavi is founder of the Alma Centre, which monitors and disseminates info about Israel's security challenges in the North to people outside of Israel. She briefs Washington officials, foreign delegations and policy makers from around the world.
Zehavi is living near border with Lebanon where Iran-backed Hezbollah militants have increased their presence this past year. She said Hezbollah is so close they can see right into homes of Israeli residents.
Zehavi said she saw Hezbollah's outposts, towers & militants right at Israel's northern border line while out for a walk recently.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has suggested he will work with lawmakers on potential sanctions against the International Criminal Court as its prosecutor seeks arrest warrants for senior Israeli officials.
Mr Blinken told a congressional hearing he was "committed" to taking action against the "profoundly wrong-headed decision".
His comments come amid a Republican push to impose sanctions on ICC officials, which may see a vote as soon as this week.
The United States is not a member of the court but has backed previous prosecutions, including the ICC's arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin over the war in Ukraine.
At least 37 lawmakers in the Republican-led House are now co-sponsoring the legislation, including Elise Stefanik, the chamber's third highest-ranking Republican.
As fighting & suffering continues in Gaza, violence grows in West Bank, prospects of Palestinian people gaining their own state might seem further away than ever. The decision by several European countries to formally recognise a Palestinian state will not overcome the reality that such ambition still faces huge obstacles. But the declarations by Ireland, Spain and Norway will put pressure on other countries in Europe - including UK, France and Germany - to follow them in supporting Palestinian self-determination.
“This is extremely significant,” one Arab diplomat said. “It European frustration with Israeli govt’s refusal to listen."it puts pressure on EU to follow suit.” But Israeli ministers insist this encourage Hamas & reward terrorism, further reducing the chances of negotiated settlement. Most countries about 139 in all - formally recognise a Palestinian state. May 10, 143 out of 193 members, UN general assembly voted in favour of a Palestinian bid for full UN membership, something that only open to states. Palestine currently has a kind of observer status at the UN, which gives them a seat but not a vote in the assembly.
It is recognised by various international organisations including Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. A minority of European countries already recognise a Palestinian state. They comprise Hungary, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Bulgaria which adopted the position 1988; and others including Sweden, Cyprus and Malta.
Many European nations - and the U.S.A. - say they will recognise a Palestinian state only as part of a long-term political solution to the conflict in the Middle East.

NV journalists were able to get first-hand experience of how Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) operates its flotilla of Magura V5 naval drones to gradually squeeze Russia’s Black Sea Fleet out of occupied Crimea.
How they, the Ukrainian naval drones force Russian fleet to abandon Crimea?.
A lone figure in military uniform and balaclava stood on shore of a large lake, behind a large mobile console. A few dozen meters into the lake, a boat-shaped surface drone was cutting through the surf, resembling a large blue fish. That spring up the day, NV arrived at this water reservoir to meet these two — a soldier and his drone.
Almost without moving, operated the blue drone with a large remote control, disclosing only his – noted the man hides both his name and face. He’s not just a drone enthusiast, but tcommander of HUR’s Group 13.
Maritime drones are their key weapon, the use of which made Russian Black Sea Fleet leave its main base in occupied Sevastopol, Crimea & has to move eastward to Novorossiysk Russia.
The Russians also abandoned operations in the western part of the Black Sea. This, allowed Ukraine to resume exporting its grain to the world, propping up the national economy.

Biden unveils Israeli proposal to end Gaza war
Joe Biden has urged Hamas to accept a new Israeli proposal to end the conflict in Gaza, saying that "it's time for this war to end".
The three-part proposal would begin with a 6week ceasefire in which the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would withdraw from populated areas of Gaza.
There would also be a "surge" of humanitarian aid, as well as an exchange of some hostages for Palestinian prisoners.
The deal would eventually lead to a permanent "cessation of hostilities" and a major reconstruction plan for Gaza.
Hamas said it views the proposal "positively".
Speaking at the White House on Friday, Mr Biden said that the first phase of the proposed plan would include a "full and complete ceasefire", the withdrawal of IDF forces from populated areas and the exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners.
"This is truly a decisive moment," he said. "Hamas says it wants a ceasefire. This deal is an opportunity to prove whether they really mean it."
The ceasefire, he added, would allow more humanitarian aid to reach the beleaguered territory, with "600 trucks carrying aid into Gaza every single day".
The second phase would see all remaining living hostages returned, including male soldiers. The ceasefire would then become "the cessation of hostilities, permanently." Among those who have urged Hamas to agree to the proposal was UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, who said on X that the group "must accept this deal so we can see a stop in the fighting".
"We’ve long argued a stop in the fighting can be turned into a permanent peace if we are all prepared to take the right steps," Lord Cameron added. "Let’s seize this moment and bring this conflict to an end."

PM Benjamin Netanyahu set to address US Congress on July 24th 2024.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Israeli PMi Benjamin Netanyahu is set to address a joint meeting of Congress on July 24, setting the stage for what is expected to be a contentious speech at a crucial moment for the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
Congressional leaders confirmed the date of the address late Thursday after formally inviting Netanyahu to come speak before lawmakers last week. It is the most recent show of wartime support for the longtime ally despite mounting political divisions over Israel’s military assault on Hamas in Gaza.
“The existential challenges we face, including the growing partnership between Iran & their backer, Russia, and China, threaten the security, peace, and prosperity of our countries and of free people around the world,” House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, along with Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell and House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries, said in the letter.
“To build on our enduring relationship to highlight America’s solidarity with Israel, we invite you to share the Israeli govt’s vision for defending democracy, combatting terror, and establishing a just and lasting peace in the region.”
As Netanyahu’s appearance before a growingly divided Congress is sure to be contentious and met with plenty of protests both inside the Capitol from lawmakers and outside by pro-Palestinian protesters. And it will put on stark display the growing election-year divisions among Democrats over the prime minister’s prosecution of the monthslong war against Hamas group.
