One million children are at risk of acute malnutrition across the enclave.

Half a million people in Gaza City face famine.
Israel is turning its back on all resolutions and laws, and famine denial is part of that.

Senior Israeli Defence Force (IDF) announced that around 130,000 reservists will take part in Israel’s planned military ops to take Gaza City. Fighting is expected to continue well into 2026. The first set of 40,000–50,000 reservists are due to show up for duty on September 2. Research, to published in a forthcoming book, call-up plans raise significant legal issues for countries permit their dual-Israeli nationals to serve IDF — whether through voluntary enlistment programs such as Mahal & Garin Tzabar, or compulsory reserve duty.
Compulsory service & dual citizenship. Under
Israeli law,  citizen or permanent resident must serve in IDF for 18 to 36 months (based on their age, marital status & gender), followed by ten years of reserve duty.

Dual citizens living abroad are not exempt,
expected to settle their conscription status through Israeli consulates and embassies.
Following October 7 2023 Hamas attacks, Israel expanded compulsory service to 3 years, boosting IDF to 169,500 active troops & 465,000 reservists.
While many reservists are currently residents in Israel, significant numbers also live overseas.

UK, France, Germany launch process to impose snapback sanctions on Iran.

Britain, France and Germany launch a 30-day process to reimpose UN sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program, a step likely to stoke tensions two mths after Israel & the U.S. bombed Iran, according to a letter sent by E3 to UN Security Council seen by Reuters.
The trio, known as the E3, say in a statement they had decided to trigger the so-called snapback mechanism before they lose the ability in mid-October to restore sanctions on Tehran that were lifted under a 2015 nuclear accord with world powers.

They have held several rounds of talks with Iran since Israel and the United States struck its nuclear installations in mid-June, aiming to agree to defer the mechanism, but they deemed that talks in Geneva on Tuesday did not yield sufficiently tangible commitments from Iran. The E3 have pressed ahead now over accusations that Iran has violated the 2015 deal that aimed to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon. The United States, which was party to that deal, pulled out under President Donald Trump in 2018, and held failed indirect negotiations earlier this year with Tehran.

The E3, whose ministers informed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio of their decision yesterday, says they hoped that Iran would engage by the end of September to provide commitments over its nuclear program that will convince them to defer concrete action. Iran has previously warned of a “harsh response” if sanctions are reinstated.

Israel>>to Turkish Trade Ban,
Tugboat Order go to Bulgaria.
Israel Ports Company, oversees ops of country’s ports, along w/Ministry of Transport, reporting have moved an order for two advanced technology tugboats to a shipyard in Bulgaria in response to actions of Turkish govt. According to reports, the order was valued at $30 million & had previously been with an unnamed Turkish shipbuilder. News of the change came as Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed in a speech to parliament today, August 29, country’s new actions against Israel. As has been reported, Turkey is banning Israeli ships from its ports, ships transporting military cargo for Israel, and also, according to minister, has closed its airspace. Turkish ships are also prohibited from calling at Israeli ports, expanding on a trade ban the govt imposed last year.

“Our decision to replace Turkish shipyard with a friendly shipyard in Bulgaria is an expression of a clear policy,” said Miri Regev of the Minister of Transportation and Road Safety, according to a report in  Israeli news outlet Haipo. “We will not give in to boycotts, but will continue to ensure the strengthening of the ports, continuity of service, and the independence of the State of Israel's operations.” The Haifa Maritime Transport Company signed new contract with Bulgaria’s MTG Dolphin shipyard in Varna, Bulgaria. They will build two tugs to be delivered to the port by the end of 2026. "The new tugboats are an integral part of our preparations for the coming years,” said Moshe Ben Zaken, Director General of the Ministry of Transportation. “We are working determinedly to provide Israel's ports with the most advanced technological tools to deal with the constant increase in the volume of maritime traffic."

The new tugs will be the most powerful yet deployed in Israel, with a pulling capacity of 85 tons. They will use Rotor tug technology. The plan calls for the new vessels to replace two of the four tugs currently operating in the Haifa port.
Israel in April acquired for approximately $14.6 million a tug named Almog. The VECTOR model tug has a pulling capacity of 73 tons and is currently the most powerful in the country. It was deployed to the port of Ashdod and operates in the southern part of the country. Turkey has historically been a strong trading partner with Israel. It was exporting building materials such as iron, marble, steel, cement, aluminum, and bricks, as well as fertilizer and construction equipment to Israel. The Bank of Israel reported more than $5.3 billion in exports from Turkey to Israel in 2023 before the prior embargo. Even after the 2024 embargo, unofficial numbers show $100 to $200 million a month in Turkish goods arriving in Israel, according to a report in the Israeli newspaper Globes.

Israel meanwhile mulls West Bank annexation in response to moves to recognise Palestine. Israel argues the territories are not occupied in legal terms be'cos they are on disputed lands, UN & most of international community regard them as occupied territory.

JERUSALEM: Israel is considering annexation the occupied West Bank as a possible response to France and other countries recognising a Palestinian state, according to three Israeli officials & the idea will be discussed further on Sunday (Aug 31), official said. Extension of Israeli sovereignty to West Bank, de facto annexation land captured in the 1967 Middle East war, was on the agenda for PM Benjamin Netanyahu's security cabinet meeting late Sunday, is expected to focus on Gaza war, member of the small circle of ministers said. It's unclear precisely such measure would anywhere be applied & when, whether only in Israeli settlements or some of them, or in specific areas of West Bank like the Jordan Valley & whether any concrete steps, would likely entail a lengthy legislative process, would follow discussions. Any step toward annexation in the West Bank would likely draw widespread condemnation from the Palestinians, who seek the territory for a future state, as well as Arab and Western countries. It's unclear when US Donald Trump stands on the matter. The White House & State Dept did't immediately respond to a request for comment.

A spokesperson for Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar did't respond to a request for comment on whether Saar discussed move w/his US counterpart Marco Rubio in his visit to Washington last week. Netanyahu's office did't immediately respond to a request for comment whether prime minister supports annexation & if so, where?.

US said Friday it would not allow Abbas to travel to New York for UN gathering of world leaders, where several US allies are set to recognise Palestine as a state.

PLEDGES TO RECOGNISE PALESTINE

Israel, which is facing mounting international criticism over war in Gaza, is angered by pledges by France, Britain, Australia & Canada to formally recognize a Palestinian state at summit during the UN General Assembly in September.

The United Nations' highest court in 2024 said Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories, including West Bank, its settlements there are illegal & should withdrawn as soon as possible.
Israel argues territories are not occupied in legal terms b'cos they are on disputed lands, but UN & most of the international community regard them as occupied territory.

Its annexations of East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights decades ago have not won international recognition. Members of Netanyahu's ruling coalition have been calling for years for Israel to formally annex parts of the West Bank, territory, to which Israel cites biblical and historical ties.

Every visit from US State Secretary to Israel instead of calming things down more weapon is send to Israel, makes things worse, & more strikes chances, more bombing,” said Israel began its military offensive even now & then after terror from Hamas-ruled Gaza killed Israel folks, about 1,200 and took 253 hostages in southern Israel on Oct 7, at least 27,585 Palestinians have been confirmed killed in Israel’s military campaign since, with many thousands more feared buried under rubble. So far, the only truce lasted just a week at the end of November. PM Netanyahu come under pressure from far-right members of his coalition govt who say they will quit rather than endorse any deal that fails to eradicate Hamas from families of hostages who demand a PM Netanyahu
to deal to bring hostages home.

Washington cast hostage truce deal as part of plans for a wider resolution on Middle East conflict, ultimately leading to reconciliation between Israel & the Arab neighbours & the hope to creation a Gaza / Palestinian state, “working hard as possibly, hope try to get an agreement to move forward – not only a renewed but expanded agreement on hostages – benefits that would bring an to the fighting in Gaza & west bank.

Before weekend raids Houthis were already holding 23 UN personnel, some since 2021. Another UN staff member died while in Houthi custody in February.

Israel dismisses 'spin' as Hamas says it is ready for comprehensive Gaza deal.
Israel has rejected a statement from Hamas saying armed group is ready for a "comprehensive deal" to end Gaza war &  free all its hostages. "This is more spin by Hamas that has nothing new," PM Benjamin Netanyahu's office said. It insisted the war would end only once the 48 hostages - 20 of whom are believed to be alive - were released, Hamas was disarmed, Gaza was demilitarised, Israel had security control, and an "alternative civilian administration" was established.
Hamas reiterated its call for a deal that would see hostages exchanged for Palestinian prisoners, Israeli forces withdraw, border crossings reopened, and the start of reconstruction.

The group also said it agreed formation of an administration run by independent technocrats to govern post-war Gaza.
It issued a statement Tuesday evening, hours after Donald Trump wrote on social media: "Tell Hamas IMMEDIATELY give back all 20 Hostages (Not 2 or 5 or 7!), and things will change rapidly. IT WILL END!".... Rotfl
